Magibraid leadcore

"CONS- The diameter is not thiner than other brands as suggested, it's thicker. The outer finish is not as smooth as other brands meaning you can hear it rubbing on your guides from friction. The color dye comes off with water as I had purple and blue drops of water around my feet after reeling in. And this was on the first day of use. The line itself has alot of memory as the core lead is pretty stiff so kinks develop easily. The end result is that it's not smooth to use.
PROS- Because the core lead is stiff it;s very easy ti strip the cover off when tying to the leader. Otherwise it seems to do what a leadcore line is suppose to do.

"Good strong line is reliable and long lasting. Its just really stiff. Even though it has a lot of memory it's a good line for trolling. I think its a good purchace cause you get a lot for a little money, give it a try."

Beats a down rigger

"For trolling this line can be deadly onTrout. I rig this line onto a level wind reel( over backer line )then tie on a barrel swivel, then about 6' of clear mono line (4 lb - 6 lb) finish the end of the mono with a snap minus the swivel, now your ready to add you favorite trolling lure,Whats great about this line is ,used with a fish finder its deadly. Locate what level the fish are at and let out line about two yards per foot (15 lb test) will get you about 1' of sink rate, colors change every 10 yards for a hundred yards.
I used the above rigging on Casitas, and Castaic,And limited on Trout every outing

Works for me

"I use the 27 pound for Salmon/Trout on Lake Michigan. I've taken 16 pound Kings with this and never had a problem with breakage. of course I don't let it get kinked up either. The colors fade a bit but I can still see them and determine how much line is out. I'll continue to buy this product."

Magibraid lead core line

"This 27 pound line works great except for a few things. It's hard to tie your everyday knots in the line and the colors seem to fade after a summers use. It's hard to break, so keep your drag set some-what loose or you'll loose your trolling rig; (if not secured with a saftey lanyard). I found out that using a reel with "levelwind" makes it easier when bringing in a larger catch. All in all, it seems to workout pretty good."

Magibraid Lead Core

"I have personally used the Magibraid Lead Core for multiple seasons without any issues. Line fade is normal after continued use but I have not seen any Lead Core on the market that does not fade. The only time that I have had unusual breaks, I found that it was normally due to defective equipment. A cracked or chipped rod guide is normally the culprit. I use Magibraid Lead Core on all of my guide reels and never had an issue due to the lines fault. You may want to check your equipment or try tying to a swivel rather than directly to the line. Use a good double style knot such as the Palomar. Also, make sure that you match up the pound test to your fishing conditions. It may be necessary to step up a pound test or two to make sure that the strength of the line is heavy enough to accomodate not only the weight of what you are trolling but also the weight of a fish.
Good luck! I hope that this helps.

Mistake

,
July 27, 2007
By troutfisherTN
"I bought two spools of this line to use when trolling for trout. The line did its job as far as getting deep and catching trout. The problem is when hanging up the 18 pound lead core line would break before the leader (8 lb test). In fact the line broke at the water's surface once causing me to lose three colors (30 yards) and basically ending my day trolling. The colors also faded. I won't use this line again. Fortunately there are quality lead core lines available and I am still catching some nice trout and walleyes."
