Berkley Berkley® Gulp!® Floating Salmon Eggs

Berkley has loaded these Gulp! Floating Salmon Eggs with their Gulp! attractor scent which is up to 400 times more powerful than the scents on regular plastic baits. The potent Gulp! scent rapidly disperses in the water to attract sensitive-smelling trout and salmon. Formulated to stay on the hook longer and to outperform natural salmon eggs. Now you know why these little guys are so popular! 0.56 oz. jar.

"I love these for smelt fishing on the ice! I rig these up on a number ten egg hook on a three hook rig, I will use the red fluo.orange, and the pink colors! On a bad day, you can get five or six dozens, on a good day, it's more like two three hundred smelt! As far as to which color works best, depends on the day and what the smelt are in the mood for!"

"I never thought I would find a better trout bait than the magnum eggs. These Gulp eggs are better. they catch trout 3 to 1 over the magnum egg and those eggs catch a lot of fish
The only negative is,they come off the hook too easily.

"We picked up these in red for the last fishing trip of the fall last year. We had five adults and twelve kids ranging from 6 to 12 with us. The Gulp seemed to work the best out of all the bait there. The only other thing the fish were biteing was a fly. We left with 25 trout and we were only at the lake for about an hour and a half. The gulp will always be with us from now on."

Not worth the extra money

"I bought a couple of jars of Gulp Eggs because they were susposed to be so much better. NOT TRUE! I caught far fewer trout on the Gulp than on the 'Power Bait' Power Eggs I usually use. Not only do the trout not bite as well on them, but almost every bite you do get pretty much tears the eggs up and can hardly be reused, and, they dry out in the jar after a while. The Power Eggs on the other hand, (1) cost less (2) catch more fish (3) stay on the hook fish after fish after fish (4) don't dry out. Enough reasons for me! Sunrise and Chartreuse are my favorites. Don't waste your time and money on Gulp. My 2 cents."

Gulp! Eggs

,

"These salmon eggs are great! Awhile back I purchased (3) jars of pink, yellow and orange. I've had good luck with all of them but I've had the best results with orange. I've never used salmon eggs before, so I had to do a little research first on how to properly fish with them. I make a drift rig which is practically a carolina rig. I like to use heavier weights to ensure I'm at the bottom when drifting. I use 3/8 or 1/2 oz. egg sinkers. I also put a clear bead between the knot and sinker to ensure I won't break off my 6# mono. I always go with the #8 mustad egg hooks. I tie off a 2'-3' leader and make an egg loop knot. I've just been using one egg at a time. The eggs stay on the hook and hold up really well. When drifiting simply get to the bottom let out another 5' or so of line and wait for that pecking type bite. When you get this bite, quickly let out line for about 6 seconds to ensure that he's got it swallowed. Next, reel in the slacked line and lightly set the hook. Using eggs like this won't catch you big trout, but it's an easy way to have fun. If you catch and release trout like myself have a good hook degourger with you because they will have it swallowed most the time and trout are pretty sensitive fish out of the water. Good Luck!"

The best

"I have tried several of the artificial salmon eggs out there. None of them work half as good as these babies. I head out to a local dam on the Mackenzie river and just KILL the trout with this bait.
Two of these eggs in the dark red color on a #8 circle hook will land you a fish on every single cast. On one fine day this summer I boated more than fifty trout in one single Sunday afternoon.
I own a jar or two in every color, but the dark red is the consistent producer in my area. I have also had fine results mixing a red and a white egg.
Give these babies a try--you won't be sorry you did."

Works very well!!

"Coming from the Virginia where I was used to warm water lake/pond fishing, I had no idea how to catch a trout. I have never had luck with preserved baits but decided to give these a try.
I had used salmon eggs and couldn't catch anything. These were brighter (I purchased the blaze orange) and float. I use it on my medium action spinning rod with an egg sinker above the hook. While reeling in steady and jerking the rod tip slightly I get these to bounce off of the bottom.
My first cast in the Truckee River in a spot that my friend said he had caught fish before, I got a 12" rainbow on my first cast. I went to the same spot the other day using the same method and got a bite my first cast, a fish the second, a fish the third and a fish on the sixth. I got another in about 10-15 more casts. This was all within a 15 minute period. The rainbows ranged from 8" to 14".
I didn't get anything else in same spot for the rest of the day but it could have been because 1) I changed baits (I wanted to see if the fish were biting because of this bait, or if they would hit anything else) or 2) because they just saw all of their buddies getting reeled to shore when they hit it.
I am going to try it again in a few days and go upstream and see if I can get more. I will make sure this stays in my tackle box for a long time coming!"

Best trout so far

"I've used the Berkley Gulp Eggs since they first came out and they've proven to the best floating bait I've ever used.
Bought a jar at the local tackle shop before going up to Mammoth a couple of years ago. Went through a whole jar at Crowley. Two of us probably caught & released over 50 fish between us. We also had found a great spot that had more fish than any other place on the lake. No big 'Crowley' fish, but plenty of stocker-size fish. More fun than we've ever had on that lake in the last 25 years. Well, catching the 2 to 4 pounders is probably better, but on those days, we usually only catch 2-3 fish each.
Tried to get more Gulp Eggs up in Mammoth that trip, but no one had the bait in stock it at that time. Last year, most of the shops had it on their shelves. So did the Lake Crowley tackle shop.
It out-performed Power Eggs by a probably 2 or 3 to one that first time we used it. After that, we don't bother with the regular Power Eggs anymore.
Absolutely the best bait I've ever used.
More fish through better chemicals!

Better than regular dough bait

,

"Not messy and it works great. This is my 2nd year trout fishing and i really hated the messy and easy to fall off dough baits. Not to fear, these salmon eggs are more durable. You can also make it smaller to downsize if those stocked trout are not eating due to other fishers who fed them up with other baits!"
