Good Sock

Advantages: Value for money, Features
"Performs it's duties well. Make sure you get the right size. Too small and it won't slow you down enough and too big and you'll be creeping along. The side of your boat you tie this too will face the wind/current. Tie it to one gunwhale or the other (middle) and you'll get more boat resistance, tying it off the transom ( or very rear gunwhale)and you'll have the least resistance."

LINDY DRIFT CONTROL SOCK 50"

Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality, Value for money, Features, rolls up small for storage
Disadvantages: sock size is not as advertised
"Have not used this sock yet but the construction of the sock warrants the extra cost. The weights on this sock appear to be a little light but as I have not used it yet I can't say for certain. To add extra weight to a drift/trolling sock is usually easy by sewing a a small loop strap at the opening end and attaching a 4+ oz in line weight to the strap. If you troll with a sock you need a weight to keep the bay from twisting, which will close up the sock's opening.
The opening size is advertised as 50" but this one is only 48", something to remember.
I like the straps that are sewed from the opening to the discharge, as this one is, only higher quality socks have this construction and INMO are "needed" if you are going to use the sock to adjust your trolling speed down due to the extra water pressure on the sock. If you only use the sock to drift with then you might get by okay with a sock that does not have this extra reinforcement."
