"Pros: Small size, rugged, decent magnification (6x), ability to select angle compensation for different bows and calibers
Cons: Somewhat expensive, mediocre optics, display difficult to read in low light, TBR mode is useless on a fast bow.
All around a decent rangefinder. The menu is overly complicated which makes it confusing if you just pull it out of the box and want to use it. If you take 5 mins to read the manual, then everything makes much more sense.
I hunt in eastern Canada so I'm not taking very long shots and not hunting up and down mountains. I purchased this mainly for bowhunting. For bow mode, I found the TBR useless. It's gives three settings. My bow is over 65lb draw and chronos faster than 260 fps so I choose Bow mode "C". At 15' in a stand, all the readings come back virtually the same as Line of Sight. Maybe plus or minus one yard. My bow sight is not set for one yard increments so it really makes no diiference. It's probably more useful if you are shooting a slow bow, but if you want it just for bowhunting like me, I'd save the money and get the RX-I.
Optics are decent in daylight, but you can forget about it at dusk or down. The LCD is impossible to read when it's dark as the numbers are lost in the background. The glowing numbers on the Leica and Swarowski are much better suited for that.
One more thing I wish I could change would be that they make this model WATERproof like the RX-III and RX-IV instead of just WEATHERproof like the RX-I.
Probably would not buy again, but instead opt for a basic model which would suit my needs just the same."
