Motorguide wireless trolling motor, April 24, 2006
By Billy from Centre, AL

"I recently purchased this trolling motor because my old motorguide finally gave out. I also bought it with the remote wireless control. After installing it on my Ranger, we took it out for a trial run and found that the ease of control to be wonderful. I was able to fish in situations that i haven't been able to fish before due to being avle to go to the rear deck and fish. I like the continous on when the motor is turned on it let me set the correct speed with the wide range of speed in the variable speed control. Setting the motor on a lower speed and letting it run while fishing allowed me to concentrate more on fishing than turning operating my trolling motor. The wireless remote is wonderful for aloowing fingertip control of the motor even if you are at the other end of the boat. All I can say is "WAY TO GO MOTORGUIDE!!!" You guys have really outdone your self with this motor. Now the real test. Let's see if I can get the same service out of this one that I got out of my old one... 20 years... let's go fishing!!!"

Still Outstanding!, April 4, 2009
By BassChaser1 from Maryland

"I purchased the Motorguide Wireless 75 in the spring of 2007 and I have used it in all kinds of terrain. I have been absolutely thrilled with the performance of this motor. I am baffled as to why some of these reviewers have had so much trouble. I have used this motor under horrible conditions with nothing but excellent results. I have hit logs, stumps, rocks, and weed mats without any mechanical issues or significant damage. Furthermore, I fish in the upper Potomac River where the motor has to combat strong river currents for 8-10 hours at a time. Nearly all of the local lakes are "electric only" and that motor has to work overtime running long distances without stopping before I begin fishing. It takes a beating and keeps on doing an outstanding job! Whenever you are reading these reviews of products, you have to ask yourself some questions. Was the product installed properly? Was the product inadvertently abused by the user? Even the best products can fail if installed without the correct gauge wire to the battery or not having the recommended circuit breaker in that circuit. I have seen some shameful installations by dealers in my 50+ years of boating and that is exactly why I do it myself. In closing, I am still a huge fan of this trolling motor and I have recommended it to numerous other fishermen without hesitation. I have spoken to several other fishermen that own and use this same trolling motor and they have all referred to this motor as being “the best thing since sliced bread” or “the best money they have ever spent.”"

junk, March 18, 2009
By buddils from lincoln ne

"i have the 70# model 1st week out steering failed hit a stump , broke the mounting plate. took a month to get fixed , but motorguide covered it under warranty. about 6 months later , my son and i were out fishing , hit a small patch of weeds and fried the circuit board, once again covered by warranty. so warranty not the problem its all the time it spends in the shop, steering is choppy ,makes alot of noise while turning, if you turn motor off on high it turns back on in high setting. foot peddle is awkward, and hard to use next time im buying a minnkota"

Do NOT Buy, March 9, 2009
By BigTXBass from Aubrey, TX

"My 55# Wireless MotorGuide TM came with my '07 Lowe that I bought in October '07. I fish 2-4 times a week in all conditions. The gear casing fell apart, half of it ended up at the bottom of the lake in 10 months during a tournament.

The motor is very loud and it turns on/off at the speed it was last set on so if you speed up to a spot, cut the motor 90 degrees and then shut it off to drift into position, when you go to turn it back on it will be at the same speed. I've nearly been thrown overboard several times. It also beeps every time a button is pressed... on, off, left, right, decrease & increase speed. Its very loud and annoying. It also is very loud under water. This motor is horrible for stealth. The gear casing also churns loudly like a bad motor every time you turn left or right.

I was off the water for a month and a half because MotorGuide was back ordered on parts. It has been completely rebuilt with brand new parts throughout except the prop blade and after having it back for 3 weeks the mounting bracket snapped clean during use on a windy day... this particular piece of metal is an inch+ in diameter and it just snapped.

Also, if mounted to an Aluminum Hull Boat with an elevated bow mount where 3/4s of the motor hangs in the air when stowed, do not travel long distances with it on the bow while trailered. The road vibrations will destroy this motor in a very short amount of time.

MotorGuide is supposed to be a work horse motor but this thing is the worst design I have ever seen/tried. Going back to a foot pedal design as soon as I can sell this piece of junk to someone else who will use it a lot less. Its like buying a 90's Ford F150 when you need a Dually.

I am VERY disappointed with this worthless boat anchor."

great trolling motor, March 7, 2009
By Robbass from Grand Blanc, Mi.

"I bought this motor for my 14' Smokercraft and it works great on it. I can move any were in the boat and still control the trolling motor. It's got great power, pulls my boat around no problem. I have had no issues with it and I have had mine for 2 years going on my third season with it."

Want turn after 1 yr, October 30, 2008
By deadbroke98 from evans, ga

"The trolling motor is quiet and powerful (45lbs. thrust). However, the plastic molding that surrounds the mounting plate could be more robust. Battery stop turning with use of both key fob and foot pedal. replaced battery in boat and remotes same problem. About to send it in for a warranty repair. Let's see what happens..."

Going to the Trash, September 4, 2008

Motorguide Wireless, August 14, 2008
By Crankinondown from San Antonio, Tx

"I found the trolling motor easy to install from the mounting bracket to the motor itself. I had also purchased a handheld remote to go along with the foot pedal - they were also easy to install.
I went out on the lake 8/12/2008 to fish and test drive the motor - I had only 1 small problem and that was tilting & pulling the motor back in the boat at the same time. I guess time will fix that problem.
I read that some users complained of the beeps the motor makes when a command is given - I can tell you it never bothered the bass as I was catching schooling bass right next to my boat - most of the day.
I wish I would of bought this motor when they first came out.

Read this first before purchasing!!!, May 29, 2008
By XLVol from Knoxville, TN

"Fellow fishermen,
I purchased this wireless trolling motor just over a year ago. I had not used it more than maybe 10 times and the circuit board burned up in it. I took it to a dealer and had to have the circuit board replaced which cost me about a month of fishing time.
The first time I had the boat out this spring the gear box suddenly locked up in it. Again, I've had to take it to a dealer to have the gear box fixed. This has been very aggravating and disappointing.
Also, this is minor but there's a small speaker in the housing that beeps loudly every time you change the speed or direction of the motor and there's no way to turn it off or adjust the volume. I found that rather aggravating as well when you're trying to enjoy peace and quiet on the lake or river.
I bought this trolling motor because I was under the impression they were the best and I've had nothing but MAJOR problems with it. As an avid fisherman I expect MotorGuide's products to be much more reliable than this and I wouldn't recommend to anyone that you purchase this trolling motor.

Maybe I was just unfortunate and got a lemon but I'd recommend to anyone that they purchase a Minn Kota instead.
Regards,
Chris B."

BEST PURCHASE EVER, March 4, 2008
By JCFDFirefighter from Johnson City, TN

"I purchased the trolling motor with a 55 lbs thrust and placed it on the bow of my pontoon boat. it works fantastic. It moves the boat around the water with no problems. The control can wither be placed on the boat or used by hand to operate. I have used it from the dock to manuver the boat. This is one of the best investments I have made to my fishing/boating inventory"

Broken before install, September 20, 2007
By unhappy

"I bought the motor about a month ago and I am just now getting around to installing it. I opened the box and saw the plastic cover at the top in pieces. I am definitely not happy and hopefully BP takes it back for an exchange. I may try to get a Minn Kota if they are all out of these."

Not too good, July 25, 2007
By colep from Savannah,Ga

"I have the 48'' shaft 75 torque.I got talked into this motor due the smaller size than the wireless. It defenitely takes very little bow area. The mount is not too sturdy though. I have a 95 nitro and the bow is very narrow up there. I have 12 anchors in it now and I still have to torque them down before every trip. I do fish areas in Ga. that has a lot of stumps and floating logs. All the motorguides I have ever had will take this punishment. The motor is 8 months old and the steering mechanism has broke. Basically i have to point the head by hand. The power is the most impressive item on this motor and I also like the remote while elsewhere in the boat. I am going to send this one in for warranty repair and mount an old fashioned motorguide up front and try to selll this one."

Fantastic Trolling Motor, June 24, 2007
By BassChaser

"I recently purchased and installed the Motor Guide Wireless (75 lb.) thrust trolling motor. It hit the water for the first time today and was I ever impressed. I have always had very good trolling motors (Johnson/Evinrude, Motor Guide, and Minn Kota) but never any as powerful as this model. This thing is a beast!! The wireless foot peddle is an absolute joy to operate. All of my previous trolling motors were the cabled foot controlled models. I must admit that I had some doubts as to whether I would be able to adapt to this system after over twenty years of cables and oversized foot pedals. No more doubts after today. This pedal is small and very portable, but it is very user friendly. Only one warning........ make sure that you start this motor pointing straight ahead and in the lower speeds. If you don"t, you may end up swimming. I am serious, I was shocked at the power this motor delivers. I mounted this motor on my (16 ft.) heavily loaded aluminum bass boat and it seemed like there was no effort involved in hauling us at warp speed down the lake. I was actually thrilled with not having to make steering corrections all day standing on one foot. This motor allows you to run and fish with both feet on the deck. I would challenge anyone to try this motor and make up your own mind. Outstanding product."

Excellent, March 1, 2007
By Raker from Louisiana

"My 3x trolling motor finally gave out so I went to BPS and I found the wireless. I was thinking this was a gimmick to seperate me from my money. The salesman was very helpful and stated that he has a buddy that loves his. I got one with the extra key fob remote which is pretty awesome.

There are a few things to consider. If your replacing an old trolling motor, this thing has a small footprint and you will most likey end up with holes showing from the old mount. Don't forget to seal these off to keep water from getting into the matting/wood area.

It doesn't have an installation kit with it, meaning you will have to buy a fuse/circuit breaker and longer wiring to reach the batteries seperate if you are installing a boat that has never had a TM. It does include a prop and prop hardware.

The TM comes with a wireless foot controller and it already has batteries installed. It took me awhile to get used to the controls and I would usually touch the wrong button, after a short time, I was a pro. I was fishing an area that has many stumps and it is easy to navigate around these as the TM has a quick response. It moves a half inch if you click the button once, if you hold it down for a sec it rotates real quick. The motor that controls direction is kinda loud I guess, I liked that as I know when it was working. I caught plenty of fish, so it wasn't loud enough to spook the fish.

It beeps once to let you know it is now doing what you asked, it beeps twice when you turn it off. It is plenty loud. Others complained that it is too quiet. I feel it is just right. However, they should give it some kind of volume control so each person can adjust to their liking or turn it off. I would also like to be able to select momentary or on/off when turning it on like a wired TM. Not a show stopper for either of these complaints.

I used the key fob from the back of the boat while checking the livewell. Works great, how many of you had to run from the back of the boat to the TM to make adjustments, well no more. You can do the same with the foot control, it works from anywhere in the boat. If you decide not to screw it down, make sure you stow it away when your using the big motor. I'm sure it will fly out as it is lightweight.

I love this thing and so will you."
