"I have been buying product from Bass Pro Shops since the late 70's. I have purchased many Bass Pro Shops rods but my latest purchase has definitely been my best so far! I recently picked up 4 micro lite graphite spinning rods in the 7' length from light to medium light in action. I actually use these rods for light drop shotting and other assorted light freshwater fishing, but about 3 weeks ago I used them in the Southern California surf while fishing for the inshore California Halibut. Most of the fish I catch in this area are relatively small but I just landed my largest surf fishing halibut which weighed 11.1 pounds on the digital scale! It was landed on 6lb test and a small swimbait. The rod performed exceptionally well! It was flexible enough so that I didn't break off the fish on the light line, but it had enough pulling power to subdue this large fish in the surging waves! I'm so thankful that Bass Pro Shops builds such GREAT quality tackle at reasonable prices. It makes it possible for sportsmen on a budget to have Excellent Tackle!"

"Over the last 5 years, I've owned 7 or 8 of these rods. They have brought hundreds of crappie, bass, white bass, and panfish to the boat. The 6' 6" ML is my personal favorite. With 6lb test line, it will cast a 1/16 oz jig a country mile. I have caught everything from small panfish to 5 pound plus Smallmouth Bass with it. These rods are good tools for anywhere from fishing small creeks to the Great Lakes. They would be a great value at twice the price!!"

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Performance

"I bought this rod to replace a Fenwick. I bought the 6'6" lightweight model. I believe it was advertised with a fast tip but it seems pretty slow. I think I'll end up using it for a crankbait rod, because it's a little "whippy." If you are really looking for a nice rod, spend the extra $15 and get a Fenwick. If you are looking to save a few bucks, this one isn't bad."

"I have a BPS micro lite 5' rod in Ultra Light action. Coupled to a Mr Crappie reel, my main use for this rod is jigging around the local fishing barges for one of my favorite fish...crappie.

A few weeks ago, the cooler in the back of the truck took a slide and broke the top 6 to 8 inches off and unfortunatley, repairs were impossible. I so like this rod that I immediately went to my local BPS store to get another one. They were sold out s I am having to order one online. The fact that they were sold out at the store says something right there."

Incredible Accurate Casting, October 14, 2009

"Got the 7' UL for smallmouth and trout ultralite fishing.
The rod has great action.
But the thing that was absolutely amazing was how accurately it casts.
I'd look at a spot cast the lure and it would land right on target.

Caught a number of smallmouth over 18" and the rod was a lot of fun playing the fish.

I have a custom built ultralite rod that cost 7 times more than this rod.
Now this is my favorite rod."

"Bought the 6' 6" UL model. It has good flex to take a lot of pressure off of light line. You can spend more but I am not sure what the point would be if you are fishing 2 or 3 pound test line and lures from 1/32 to 1/64. While I can feel some hits most of the time the fish is just on there and I set the hook. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the lack of a hook keeper."

"I have been using these rods for about as long as they have been available. Last fall I puchased the 7' light action, for crappie. I put a 1500 Okuma stratus reel on it ,with 6lb.P-line, then I went out crappie fishing with it and caught 2 Stripers, weighing in at 7lb. and 7.5lb. . It took all the fight they could give ."

"I grabbed a 6'6" Micro Lite toward the end of last season. Now that the fish have really started poppin' this year, I am glad I made the purchase. I love my Ugly Stick (dated, I know) but the rod sings! I use it for general small-lake fishing - crappie and bass - and it is a great light-action rod for the money...and quality! Definitely recommended!"

I love these rods !, March 9, 2009

"I have 6 of these rods now and I have spent more and recieved much less in return. My favorite sizes are the 7 foot ML and the 7 1/2 foot UL rods. Match them with Bass Pro's Fluorocarbon line and you'll fall in love with fishing all over again.

These rods are light and very well made. I would also love to see a hook keeper added but that won't stop me from buying them without one.

There is no telling how many white bass and Hybred stripers I have caught on these rods and the only problem I have ever had was my own stupidity and they replaced it anyway.

I have tried several makes of rods that were IM7 and above but I always go back to these rods. The "FEEL" that you get from them is a perfect compromise.

You really need to try these rods! Geo. T."

"I have purchased four of these excellent rods and after ten years I finally just wore one out. I own at least thirty assorted fishing rods and can honestly say I have never been happier with any as much as my mircro- lite rods. I fish just about every day during the open water season and have caught everything from ten pound pike to eight pound walleyes with these rods. I would recommend them to anyone as being the best rods I have ever used for the money. I will be ordering at least two more this spring. One to re-place the older one I broke and one for my grandson who will start fishing for the first time this summer. Thanks for your great service."

"I own 4 microlights. paired with 10 series reels and 4 lb test I have taken and released many large trout. These rods easily give rods of twice the price a run for their money.
Good backbone and sensitivity. This is 40 bucks well spent."

"Great rod for the money-if you're bobber fishing or not taking it too seriously (as I do when I go camping and fish for trout). When I'm bass fishing, it's a different story. You're gonna need to up it a notch if pan fish and/or trout are your life the way bass are mine."

"I bought the 6'6 ML rod yesterday and took it out on the water today paired w/ the Pflueger President 6725. This rod is Excellent. The action is very nice but strong enough to land some decent fish. I caught a couple 1-2lb. trout and a nice 4lb. on it and handled very nicely."

Extremely sensitive rod but..., September 4, 2008

"Being an avid ultralight fisherman, I took the advise of a BPS employee and tried this rod. WOW! I was blown away but the sensitivity! This rod is just like an extension of my arm...you feel every rock, stump, limb or bush in the water! Also, this thing is light as a feather, which is GREAT while fishing from my float tube. The only drawback is that the reel holders sometimes come loose preventing a tight fit. That can be a pain while fighting a fish."
