Extreme Value & Performance!, July 30, 2007
By Hanapaa90504 from Torrance, CA

"I have been buying product from Bass Pro Shops since the late 70's. I have purchased many Bass Pro Shops rods but my latest purchase has definitely been my best so far! I recently picked up 4 micro lite graphite spinning rods in the 7' length from light to medium light in action. I actually use these rods for light drop shotting and other assorted light freshwater fishing, but about 3 weeks ago I used them in the Southern California surf while fishing for the inshore California Halibut. Most of the fish I catch in this area are relatively small but I just landed my largest surf fishing halibut which weighed 11.1 pounds on the digital scale! It was landed on 6lb test and a small swimbait. The rod performed exceptionally well! It was flexible enough so that I didn't break off the fish on the light line, but it had enough pulling power to subdue this large fish in the surging waves! I'm so thankful that Bass Pro Shops builds such GREAT quality tackle at reasonable prices. It makes it possible for sportsmen on a budget to have Excellent Tackle!"

BassPro Microlite Rods, August 26, 2006
By JerryK from Southwest Ohio

"Over the last 5 years, I've owned 7 or 8 of these rods. They have brought hundreds of crappie, bass, white bass, and panfish to the boat. The 6' 6" ML is my personal favorite. With 6lb test line, it will cast a 1/16 oz jig a country mile. I have caught everything from small panfish to 5 pound plus Smallmouth Bass with it. These rods are good tools for anywhere from fishing small creeks to the Great Lakes. They would be a great value at twice the price!!"

Great rod's, June 20, 2008

"I have 2 of these rod's in 6' L and ML and have no complaints at all. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one today if I needed another rod for trout, crappie, or smallmouth fishing."

Change in Mind, June 14, 2008
By troutrageous1 from Limerick, PA

"I reviewed this product back in January of 2007, I gave it 3 out of 5 stars, basically because the 5' version I purchased didn't have a hook keeper or a reel seat. Well after using it for more than two years since, this has become my "go-to" rod without a doubt, and I felt the need to update my review. #1, for the price, can't be beat for sensitivity & backbone. #2, forget about the screw down reel seat, I was a little paranoid about not having one, but the rings work just fine and make the rod even more sensitive. #3, I've done all I could to wear it out in the 2+ years I've had it and it still comes back for more."

Great Product, June 12, 2008
By AggieReelGuy from College Station, TX

"I recently bought the 7'6" UL spinning rod. I absolutely love it. It is very light and sensitive without the brittle feeling of some UL graphite spinning rods. I use it a lot for fishing ponds where one of my favorite rigs is a crappie jig under a cork. I bought the longer rod because I can throw the jig and cork rig much easier especially when I'm fishing depths over 5'. It's almost the same as the float and fly rig, but i wanted the UL rod because panfish are what I mostly catch on this setup, and this rod is just fun (almost like a fly rod) when you hook into a good bluegill or crappie.

Another great product, especially for the money, by BPS."

broken, May 29, 2008
By chris85 from CT

"I love BassPro and their products. I believe they bring great value at an affordable price to the mid-level fishermen. However, this rod is not worth the money. I went to slip it into a BassPro shop rod sock and the tip caught and broke before I even got a chance to try it on the water. I will attempt to contact the company to see what they can do but I have never broken a rod in 10+ years. For those interested it was on the 6'6" ultralight model"

MLT66MLS-2pc, April 29, 2008
By arthy77 from Schuylkill River, PA

"I bought this rod to throw (1/16th to1/4oz) minnow lures and spinners in the river. The rod is sensitive, and has the backbone to set the hook in current while smallie fishin. The rod has a good whip to it during casting, which means buiseness all day. For the price, the action is worth it. This rod is not constructed to be kid's rod, and I wouldnt charge thru the brush with it at nite. It loses a star because the rod seems hollow and I know my 2 year old could break it, quick."

Most Bang for the Buck, March 4, 2008
By Ultralight from Saint Simons Island GA

"I have the 6, 6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 foot models of this rod. I use them fishing for most fresh and a lot of saltwater species with 4 # line on shimano Stradic and Sahara Spinning reels. Some of the fish I have landed on these combinations include 3.25 lb Crappie, 6.8 lb Largemouth, 5.5 lb Speckled Sea Trout, 13.25 lb Redfish, 15 Lb Tripletail and 12 lb Sheepshead. You can not get a better ultalight rod for twice the money."

Excellent Price, Quality and Value, March 4, 2008
By arnybpt

"I have over 5 of these rods and I love them. They are extremely sensitive and durable with excellent feel. I have them in range from Ultra light to Medium action and they perform as good or better than higher priced rods. I have fished with a number of differnet brands i.e. G. Loomis, St. Croix, shakespeare and others and for the price and value these are among t6he best I have used and you can buy 3 or 4 of them for the price of the other brands. I am a very picky angler and I want the best and I believe these rods are among the best in their price range and above. You will not go wrong with these rods."

"This is by far the cheapest $40 you will ever spend on a wonderful rod. The sensitivity is great and the feel is good too. If you are looking for a good crappie, panfish, or trout rod, this one is the way to go."

16 inch brookie with my bass pro micro lite rod
User submitted photo
"I purchased the 5'6'' ultra light model. While the ring on the reel will sometimes become loose, it takes all of two seconds to tighten. In light of the very low price, this defect seems extremely insignificant. This rod has handled unexpected large carp with ease. Just make sure it is matched with a good reel. I use it mainly for brook trout fishing but it can also handle lake trout."

ok rod for panfish, September 25, 2007
By naturesfly from S. Indiana

"The actions on these rods are top notch. I am disappointed they do not offer a 6'6 or 7'0 in a light action one piece. I also feel the older versions where better. I dont like having to screw the round nuts around the reel to mount it. Id rather seeing using the front grip to hold the reel or improving the current system. I also dont like the old fashioned look of the cork. Id rather see it more like a bass rod. I have three that are used for crappie and bluegill fishing. Ive landed two 7lb largemouths on it and a 9lb cat. Hundreds of white bass too. They wil hold onto a fish no doubt. Id just really like to see the addition of some 1pc. rods."

Big to Small, August 23, 2007
By FishInc

"I have 12 of these rods ranging from 6'-7'. I have super-lite reels (4.4 oz.) on the 7' rods and Bass Pro reels on the 6' and 6 1/2' rods. I fish 95% of the time for panfish and walleyes. I have caught a 16# channel cat and a 47" muskie on the 7' rods while panfishing, they were almost bent double, no problem. Great for casting light jigs and a small hook dressed with wax worms. Great feel when jigging for walleyes with 1/8 oz. and 1/4 oz. jigs. Excellent for slip bobber fishing, long rods take up slack quickly."
