Lowrance's answer for a budget minded fishfinder,

"Lowrance has out done itself with the new X96 sonar unit. The X96 has almost all the features that you'll find on their higher priced units at a cost that most fishermen on a budget can afford. The unit is very user friendly and easy to operate. Most other units in this price range don't offer what you'll find with the Lowrance X96. The 16 level Gray Scale makes reading the bottom composition almost a no brainer. The resolution at 320 X 320 pixals makes for a super fine read out on the screen.
I highly recommend this unit and have had great success fishing with it."

"I bought the X96 to mount at the front of the boat on the trolling motor. I have been very pleased with the performance. I have been able to find fish and structure for the first time. Awesome for the price!!"

"I purchased one of these for the bow and mounted the transducer on the trolling motor. I was so impressed, that I purchased another for the console to use with the transom mounted transducer and removed the X51 that came with my Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW. When your beating the bank, they are good for depth and temp but when you get to big water, they are great for seeing the bottom and finding structure. While you are at it, get a temperature sending unit and connect it to the expansion port on the X96 and mount the temp sensor in your live well! It's worth the extra cost!"

X96-Great Unit for the Price,

"Very sensitive unit and relatively simple to use. You can track your lure when jigging under the boat. The graphics are very sharp and I am probably going to buy another unit to replace my old Lowrance X25 due to it's excellent track record based on my usage on the front of the boat."

Hate to ruin the party.,

"All the 5 star rateings helped me decide to get this product. It worked for about the first ten hours i had it then the top half of the screen broke. Black lines all through it. I can say it worked awsome untill it broke, nothing like seeing you bait on the screen. I wish i could say i loved this product but after it left me sit for a week in Canada with no fishfinder, I cant. Good Luck. Hope you have better luck than I do."

"Very easy install, the transducer was a piece of cake. This unit has a very good grey scale and the picture resolution is very clear. Very easy to use, It really has a lot of features that you would find on more expensive units. For the money I really have not seen anthing that could touch it. Really worth the money."

"Used this unit a handful of times now and see why it has gotten 5 out of 5 stars every time. For the price the quality and durability of this unit is outstanding. SUPER clear and easy to read/use screen. Bottom composition and structure is very easy to see. This unit is simple to learn how to use and has helped me find more fish already. The transducer has a built in temperature sensor and is super easy to mount. This is such a sweet unit and for 200 it's a steal! Trust the reviews and buy this unit if you are in the market. So many features for such little price and Lowrance quality on top of that? No brainer for me."

"I can not believe how accurate and clear this unit is compared to my X65 unit. I had been thinking of upgrading to the X96 for weeks and finally did it. I wish I would have never waited. Right out of the box I started catching fish. I never could really fish vertical with my older unit. Now I can "CLEARLY" see my lure drop in front of the fishes nose. Unreal clarity. I love it. For the price of this unit, I would not hesitate to purchase another one. I highly recommend.

"I have owned many, many depth/fish finders over the last 20 or so years. Including those which I spent A LOT of money on. This is the best I have ever owned. Period. Fast, accurate and easy to use. What else do you need?"

"I couldn’t be more impressed with this unit. Lowrance is definitely packed this unit with features that you would not expect to get in this price range. It is also very easy to figure out how to use this unit. The resolution is excellent and not very hard to read in the sun. I believe this is the best grey scale unit and I would definitely buy this unit again."

"I replaced a fishfinder that worked great with the Lowrance x96. With gas prices what they are I thought the need to enhance my fishing expeiences with better tools was a good approach. This unit is excellent. The clarity for the price makes it a must for anyone on a low buget.
