Better then live bait, February 20, 2007
By tinman from Cape Coral FL

"In a recent trip to the backwaters off Sanibel and Captiva Islands I had the oppurtunity to fish with my son-in-law. He was fishing a 3" Gulp Shrimp and I put on a 3" curly tail. Both were white in color. Within minutes of pulling onto a grass flat in about 3-5' of water with a incoming tide he started catching fish. What was amazing was the catch ratio with the gulp, which was about 3-4 fish to 1 on the curly tail. Sea Trout, Lady Fish, Spanish Makeral, and a occasional Squerial Fish was the mixed bag for the day.We thought this maybe just a one time occurance so over the next three outings that week we tried the same challange. We even tried a 4" shimp in a different color, and I fished the Gulp. The results where the same. Make sure when you are done with the Berkley Gulp shrimp to put it back into it's sealed bag to keep it smelling good!! I am totally sold on the Berkley Gulp shimp."

Gulp Shrimp Catches Catfish Too, December 18, 2006
By LouisianaFisherman from Baton Rouge, LA

"I was fishing in my friend's pond for catfish and was not catching anything. I had gulp shrimp in the new penny color in my tackle box. I had caught many specks and reds with these artificial shrimp and with their strong scent I figured they could catch catfish too. Well I didn't have to work them at all. I just let it sit on the bottom and caught 3 large catfish. I caught a 12lb, 11.5lb, and a 7lb catfish all on the gulp shrimp. These shrimp are amazing. I used them to outfish livebait in the gulf a couple months ago, and now i used them to outfish live bait in a pond. Whether you are fishing for specks and reds or freshwater catfish, this bait will not let you down."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design

"I got turned onto these last year while flounder fishing with live mud mionnows, when an friend ask if he could jig a gulp in front on me on a ledge not 3 ft. from my feet, I said sure, I have been drowning mud minnows there for over three hours with no luck. As soon as the gulp got down he caught a nice flounder then two more after that. Believe me they catch fish, twice since I started using them they have out caught live bait, so now all I fish with is GULP, I have hundreds of other plactics that never leave the house now. To the Guys that had bad luck with them,,, very simple the fish were not feeding,,, I have caught unknown numbers of nice Flounder this year with Reds and Specks mixed in, My choice of color is glow 3" shrimp, I don't leave home without at least 4 packs of them,I wish Berkley would put glow in a bucket"

Advantages: Performs well

"The berkley gulp 3 inch shrimp in new penny color is deadly on redfish on the flats. Fished on a jig head and bounced slightly off the bottom either fast or slow depending on what the fish are in the mood for it is deadly on Reds that are tailing or just roaming in schools. Since the main sensory organ of Redfish is their smell/scent the gulp attraction just adds to the performance. This lure has also caught many trout as well when fished under a popping cork or just free lined in the current. I'm beginning to be a firm believer that berkley gulp OUTFISHES LIVE BAIT!!"

Rockfish Killer, March 20, 2009
By Trojan from California

"Here on the west coast rockfishing is one of those staples when the yellowtail or white sea bass aren't around. Usually you are fishing with strips of squid or anchovies/sardines. Well the berkley gulp shrimp is a killer bait to throw in the mix. Its nice since the bait is extremely durable and can last for quite a few fish before it needs changing. I've caught some decent sized Reds (rockfish) easily to 5 lbs with the shrimp. You can even tip it on a jig and knock fish out of the park....its almost like cheating sometimes..."

awesome, but don't let em' dry out, March 10, 2009
By Stripermaniac from Kittery, Maine

"The Gulp shrimp is the best artificial bait you can throw in almost any warm water situation. Gulp is better than the real deal because small pinfish and other less desirable fish will rip off live bait with small nibbles, plus ten miles out you can't just pick up another dozen shrimp at the bait shop. I've caught redfish, black drum, sea trout, catfish, and many other species on these lures, and believe me the fish hold on to these tasty treats.

BUT do not let them dry out! They will become hard and lose their scent after a few hours out of the water or package. I would suggest salvaging these baits in the package even if slightly worn. Even with a chunk missing from a toadfish bite I still nailed a nice trout on a second cast. These baits are also biodegrable which is good news for the earth and any fish that may swallow a loose piece or a whole shrimp that has got loose.

Best bait I've thrown in Florida waters.

Definitley worth the money, February 12, 2009
By TarponKing from Englewood FL

"I usually stick to the live bait because I beleive you cant beat it but when a friend recommended this shrimp it amazed me how many Spotted sea trout and redfish I caught it was amazing. One thing though is basspro really should stock electric or nuclear chicken color I think that one has the best results."

Excellent!, November 5, 2008
By hyenabait from punta gorda, fl

"Berkley does it again! I was introduced to Gulp! Shrimp in 2005 while snook fishing on the Sanibel Island Pier by 4 teenagers who out-fished me 13 to 1. A month later I'm flounder fishing the Oregon Inlet in NC and I made sure I had a couple of bags with me. My buddies were using live bait. I stuck with Gulp! and out-fished then 11 to not worth mentioning."

Fish love 'em, May 28, 2008
By fishinginGA from GA

"Every time I go fishing in the Gulf, I load up on Gulp Shrimp (white has worked the best, but they all catch fish). Great for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackeral, etc. My buddies and I have destroyed fish with this bait. If there are fish in your area, almost garaunteed to limit out every day."

This stuff is unreal, May 17, 2008
By gcsmag from ohio

"I vacation in the Outer Banks and have used the 3" new penny shrimp with deadly results. I have caught flounder using this on a surf rig ( just dead sticking it like live bait ) and have murdered speckled trout both in the surf and in Pamlico Sound. I tie an 18" 20# flourocarbon leader to a barrel swivel to connect to my fireline, and tie the flouro to the jighead, usually 1/4 to 3/8 oz. This is great for wade fishing, as I can put a half dozen baits in a ziplock bag in my vest and be set for the trip. I mainly cast this with a jighead, but have done well with it rigged on a hook below a popping cork. I fish this stuff with every bit as much confidence as live shrimp, but without the mess and hassle of live bait. I also like being able to return the used bait to the pint or quart container ( buy a decent tupperware one with a sealing gasket )
This stuff really works !
