No other line delivers this combination of easy handling, castability, super strength, and sensitivity. Stronger than mono, yet it casts farther and handles just as well -- even better, in some situations. FireLine ties easier, makes smoother casts, and stays hassle-free in any weather. Durable, too, as it won't deteriorate over a lifetime, because ultra-light rays, sunlight, and even cold won't affect it.

Good fishing line,November 16, 2009
By bigegan18from Clinchport, VA
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well Disadvantages: a bit stiff
"This line is good for any fishing situation. It casts smoothly and is very sensitive. The line is just a bit stiff. Sometimes the line does catch itself on a cast. You can stop this by lining your reel with mono for about the first 1/3 of the reel and then put fireline on your reel."

Strong Line,August 12, 2009
By BigBass759from New Bedford Ma
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality Disadvantages: bit stiff
"I have this line spooled on 1 baitcast for testing. The line is extremely sensitive as there is no stretch. The line is very strong and believe me the rod will break before anything else does. Casts well I have had no problems. Smoke color is not very visible at all. Only drawback as far as rating goes it is a little stiff and will catch on itself occassionally. Otherwise a very good line that can be used on a variety of applications. Very much recommended. Best knot to use is a palomar - can't go wrong with it. Been lookin for a good super line. I also have some crystal fire line which will be a separate review. Think I found it."

No issues with Fireline,August 11, 2009
By JEMCGfrom Florida
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money, lasts a long time
"I've used this line for a long time, back when it first came out Hank Parker had the burned up commercials running. The product works fine if you understand Fireline is way unrated. The 10lb I use most of the time has a breaking point far in excess of that, we have tested it a 28lbs consistantly. That being said I've fished it from coast to coast in Mexico and Canada. It is my number one line on spinning tackle making small easy to cast light spinning reels able to handle huge fish. I fish this line in saltwater extensively with great success. In comparison to braided superlines this product handles better and is far less trouble for the angler. My regular rigging is the 10lb to a 15 or 20lb Fluorocarbon leader tied in with a four turn surgeons knot to a doubled Fireline. Lures are attached with a canoeman's loop. Nice set up deadly on almost anything that swims."

What happened,July 25, 2009
By Adam17from GA
Advantages: cast great Disadvantages: Durability, Performance
"I have used fireline for a VERY LONG time. I have just started noticing lately that its just not what it used to be. It is very sensitive which is great but it has started breaking with me on my hook sets. NO its not my knots either. I used 6 lbs on my spinning gear for a while I used to love this stuff so much I'd buy the big $100 spool. But I just have to change now because something has happened to this line. Maybe a bad spool I dunno but not willing to find out"

By aMpEnRgY1
"I use this as both a salt and freshwater line, in freshwater , I use it for everything from crappie on my Trion, to my reels for bass and catfish, in saltwater, I use it for anything inshore, on my Trion, I use 6lb test, and its perfect for an UL combo like that, you feel every strike, for bass, I use it on my baitcaster I use anything from 8-17, and for cats 25-30, saltwater, always 30, and I use this in the regular smoke color."

Great line,December 11, 2008
By bsimm78from Flower Mound, Tx
"I love Fireline. It casts a mile, there is no line memory and it's very strong. It doesn't stretch like mono does. You want to make sure you have good line guides on your rod or it will cut into them. I've been using it on all my reels for years. It has cut a small grove in the bail of my ultralight reel, but I don't care. This line is worth it's weight in gold"

THE BEST POSSIBLE INVESTMENT IN FISHING,September 4, 2008
By Speerzyfrom Guelph, Ontario, Canada
"when you figure how much most of us here spend on fishing, why wouldn't you use the best line available even at twice the cost. then there's THAT one fish, and when she's in pictures with you; ask yourself "why don't I have this line on all my gear?" this is just an ongoing review of my favourite line. one piece of advice, due to fireline's "sharpness" I like to add a small piece of soft braid between fireline and a floro leader"

Best Line For Trolling,June 16, 2008
By packfanfisherfrom Shorewood, Illinois
"I only use this when trolling. It is very durable. The reason I dont use it while casting is because it loops up in the spoil easier and when it knots up, there is no use trying to detangle it. For trolling, 5 stars. But for anything else, mono is your better bet."

"I used this line on all of my rods. I have 10lb test on my Shimano Citica baitcaster. 10lb on my mitchell spinning reel, and 8lb crystal on my quantum. Crystal is very good no tangling at all.
On a fishing trip I dragged in a huge fallen tree and I even caught a trolling motor on 10lb test. I use that trolling motor to this day."

worst line i ever bought,March 13, 2008
By jwfisherfrom louisiana
"i believe this line is junk! i have 4 of the bantam curados i fish with and they are the best pieces of equipment i have. never had a problem with them until i spooled this line. it digs into itself worse than any braided line, or stays spooled very loosely,or backlashes easily when you try to pitch with it. i have been bass fishing for a long time and this is without a doubt the worse i ever fished with. its already taken off my reels."

Highly Recommended!!!,March 12, 2008
By MShelton048from Antioch, TN
"I have been using Berkley Fireline for both Bass and Crappie now for about 3-4 years. I was immediately impressed with the ultra-thin diameter and no-memory features of the line. I was introduced to it on a float trip in an East Tennessee river for Smallmouth Bass (Brown Fish) and could not believe the strength and abrasion resistance that we encountered from various types of objects like boulders, trees and the like along the way using only 6lb test (it is very difficult to break and like another reviewer wrote, it will cut your hand and fingers). Shortly after that trip I switched all of my Crappie rods over to it and now find myself regularly bending jig hooks out of fish attractors all over the lake. When I put it on my baitcasters (6lb test) it was fine for a while and then "snap" as I watched a $6.00 spinner bait sail through the air on a cast with no line attached and it landed in Percy Priest Lake! After two more attempts to cast a spinner into likely territory, and two more lost $6.00 spinner baits, I decided to quit and go home. I immediately got on Berkely's website and filed a complaint. They recommended that all casting be done with a minimum of 14lb test if you are going to use it that way and 'walla' no more throwing away expensive baits. So far that has worked for me and I have both the gray and the green and can't wait to try the new Crystal color this Crappie and Bass season.... You won't go wrong with buying this line and also, I love being able to feel every little strike. On another note, Berkley is also producing a worm rod for this line that I found and I highly recommend them also. They come with metal guides and now I can cast a "Country Mile"!"

Not For Everyone.,March 11, 2008
By HowardBfrom Arizona
"The line is certainly strong, but has few other redeeming features.
It may cast better than braided super lines, but not as well as monofilament.
The sound and feel of this line going through the guides is almost as cringe-inducing as nails on a chalkboard.
Tying a knot that will hold is still a problem. Even using the knots recommended in the packaging doesn't guarantee the knot will hold for any length of time.
In the end, I've gone back to monofilament exclusively. It may not be as strong as the super lines, but, hey, that's why reels have drags."

The best line ever,March 8, 2008
By Shiverfrom Mass.
"I pulled a 15' long 5" Dia. tree limb up out of the water. I was using a jig and hooked this branch. Never broke my line, just bent my hook really bad. I have been using Fire Line for 5 years now and love it. If you follow instructions you will never have any line slippage or lose a knot. I have never lost a fish due to line failage. Fire Line is the best."

Strongest Line,March 1, 2008
By pyrofrom IL
"This is the strongest line out there. I've been using it for 3-4 yrs now and have not had it break with a fish on. I strongly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to lose a fish. There's only 1 problem... if you're fishing live bait split shots tend to easily fall off."
