It stands to reason that Daiwa's finest spinning reel is also its most technologically advanced. After all, the precision is nearly flawless. Just one turn of the handle reveals the effortless, fluid motion of 10 bearings working together with the Digigear™ digital gear design for an optimum mesh of speed, power and durability. The sound of the oscillation is not just whisper quiet--it's non-existent, with a fully dampened gear and drive to eliminate unnecessary noise and vibration. Daiwa's Levlewind feature lays line evenly in a cross wrapped pattern to prevent dig-in under pressure, while the sealed drag stays dry as water and drains quickly and easily from other parts of the reel. A true masterpiece, with a computer cast aluminum alloy body, body cover and rotor (corrosion takes a back seat here), super strong, yet ultra-lightweight Air Bail™, ABS aluminum spool with cut-proof, titanium nitride lip and lifetime bail spring.

Smooth as silk!,April 28, 2006
By OneLastCastfrom St. Louis, MO
"I had been wanting to upgrade my arsenal of fishing tools to the next level for a long time, but it's hard to justify shelling out $300+ dollars on just one reel. So, I began researching every reel on the market. I read everything I could get my hands on regarding each reels construction...number and types of ball bearings...gear ratios and weight and line capacity. After all was said and done, only two reels made the cut. Shimano's Stella and Daiwa's Certate. I didn't feel that Shimano had any performance advantage that warranted an additional $150 so I went with the Certate. Was it worth it? Absolutely! You won't believe the difference until you've got one in your hands and are actually fishing. The reel became an extension of my hand, performing every task effortlessly with a rock solid, silky smooth action that you have to experience to believe. Did it improve my fishing? Without a doubt this reel exceeded all my expectations on what a quality reel could add to my fishing experience. It allows me to fish more efficiently and with more confidence then I ever dreamed possible. It's like you've been driving an ecomomy car your whole life and then you get to drive a Porsche...no substitute! Did I "really" need a reel of this caliber? Probably not...but I dare you to try to take it away from me."

Better than Stella,December 27, 2008
By captmatt
"To start off this is the best reel I have ever bought. I started of with a shimano stella sw, I tested it out I thought it was ok but not the best. I was going to test it agianst the saltiga but me and my pal were out fishing last week and he had the certate. I loved it, it was the smoothest reel I have ever used even agianst the stella. I now own the 3000 series with 15lb berkley fireline , with a G loomis rod you can cast anything a mile. But what do I know im just a retired old man with about 60 years of experience =p"

Certate 2500 - Best Spinning Reel Ever,October 2, 2008
By rubs96from CANADA
"I bought the Daiwa Certate 2500 spinning reel and love it!!! It is an amazing spinning reel - definitely the best I've ever used. Why the Certate and not the Steez? Well, save your $100.00 and buy good line and some lures, and you can actually use the Certate in saltwater. I also believe the Certate would last longer and more powerful. It is a multi-purpose and multi-species reel. I've always dreamed about having this reel and when I finally had the opportunity to do so, I still hesitated because I could've had a couple Sol 2000's instead (they were only $175.00CDN), but I wanted a 2500 sized reel and I went with it. I have no regrets!!!
I have mine spooled with 10lb. Seaguar fluorocarbon and 8lb. Steez fluorocarbon and fish for Bass, panfish, and trout with it, and I will use it in saltwater when I get the opportunity. GREAT REEL!!!!"

Reel Smooth,February 5, 2008
By SnookMaster1515from Tampa, FL
"I have six fishing reels and rods. By far this reel is my favorite. I use it for salt water fishing. I have it on a G-loomis Greenwater rod. It is very light and it is the smoothest reel I have ever used or owned. I use it for light tackle fishing. In my opinion it is quieter and smoother than the Shimano Stella and it is a couple hundred dollars cheaper. The reel is a little pricey, but once put it in your hands you wil find out how much fun it is to use. The large bail is great for twist busiting and the Digi Gear is superb. If your lookng for a top of the line fishing reel look no further this is the reel for you. Tight Lines everyone."

Smooth Fluid Reel,February 28, 2007
By EhCanuck
"If you have chosen to go this far reading reviews about this reel I would assume you are serious about it. Also the price hasn't scared you away so commenting on it is irrelevant. Simply put the reel is a gem. It defines quiet, smooth and solid and is well worth the money. Choose wisely friend, you won't regret it."
