Berkley® Saltwater Power® Jerk Shad™

Berkley® Saltwater Power® Jerk Shad™

Larger baits for targeting big reds and speckled trout. With an erratic retrieve, the bait will dart and rest like a wounded baitfish. Can also be jigged in deep water. Length: 5''. 6 pack.

Put 'em on, reel 'em in!, January 16, 2008

"These big shads are great for bringing in the big reds. Combo with a good hook, and you'll need a bigger cooler. The red color has worked very well for me!"

Great for freshwater too.

"This is another saltwater product that will work wonders in freshwater too. It cast well weightless and it produces large bass consistently. It also works well Texas or Carolina rigged. I use a lot of saltwater plastics in high pressured areas and I think that may be one reason they produce well as the bass have seen nearly everything made for freshwater. Give these a try and you won't be disappointed, excellent action with great results."

Go-To Saltwater bait, September 20, 2007
By cliffjumper from Vancouver Island B.C.

"I bought these in mullet, sardine and glow last year and only first used them (by accident) out of desperation this June... I had tried fresh bait, blah..blah..blah.. and was catching very few fish.

I threaded the mullet on my line with a bullet weight ahead of it hooked in a 2/0 octopus hook and bam, on my first cast.

45 rock & ling cod in 4 hours... the best action I've ever seen. Oh right,.. all on that same minnow! And those are some very toothy fish.

They have a split belly to protrude your hook nice & proud, so I now use jigheads instead of bullets.

My first bag is now gone, and mullet was unavailable, so I tried the sardine... good during the day but not at dawn or dusk, like the mullet. Glow worked well, but mullet, with the blue/black top and white belly worked best.

I've tried Gulp, but the closest I can get in colour is rainbow, and none of the 3 colours of Gulp minows I've tried work as well as the powerbait.

Also, Gulp doesn't last on the jighead nor take multiple hook-ups as well, good for 1-3 fish.

I've since found them here again, and bought more.

Last night, I offered one to a young guy beside me, but he wouldn't try, saying "it was my lucky bait", he was trying something else. He got skunked. After we were done, I gave him my old one to show what to buy and the colour

The tail was bit-off, it had been re-set on the jighead too many times to be good any more, and had caught me at least 20-30 fish. Three that night. I told him I'm tossing it or he could take it to the store, so he took it home... "I'll get some tomorrow".

The eyes can fall off, but I just felt pen the spot, they still work as well.

Since using these, I've been skunked twice only, and I fish saltwater rockpiles a lot... 2-7 times a week since April.

For me, the best jigheads are the horizontally flat, flutter-stye, in 3/8 oz... 6-inch jerk, pause, jerk, pause, all the way back. I've also used the stand-up style but lose more baits in the rocks.

This is a good bait. I hope you enjoy it as I have.

Cheers!
