Not good enough,
April 7, 2009
By fishtale

"Many of you know the reel clamps for the Penn 50's and 70's lose their sprayed on finish and corrode. It is a flawed design. The annodized aluminum is the right answer. I bought 2 of these #3 clamps to try, before buying the other 6 I need. There are two problems with this product . First the screw holes are oversized, I imagine so they fit a broad range of reels. They are almost rectangular. So the likelihood of the screws loosening and the clamp slipping is high. The second problem is the eye for your lanyard snap is too small. Some snaps will fit. Mine do, but they do not go on easily and will bind. Not good.
This product is on the right track, but flawed in these 2 respects. If anyone has found something better, get the word out.

"I purchased the size #2 Gold for my Shimano Calcutta 700 and it fits perfectly. I like the design and plan to purchase 2 more to rig my other reels the same. The hook holder is my favorite feature."

"I purchased the # 2 reel clip for Penn GLD series 30 II. The clips were advertised to fit these reels and did not. They are too small.
Buyer beware."

Not Good for Trinidad TN20,
November 14, 2006

"I bought this for a Trinidad TN20...and a Tallus (MH ) Rod....
Product is well made and looks good but it is way to big for this set-up.....it might be better suited for larger reels.
