Van Staal® Spinning Reels - Silver

Van Staal® Spinning Reels - Silver

Built for the surf, where the challenge lies not in hooking giant fish, but in taming them. When you're wading a heavy surf, chunking metal into the breakers and fighting off an icy breeze, it's good to know your gear can handle whatever comes. As the folks at Van Staal like to say, no challenge is too extreme for the world's toughest spinning reel. Every model is overbuilt - no die-cast aluminum or plastic here. This is aircraft-grade construction, light and strong, a blend of fine steel and titanium to ensure trouble-free performance at every turn. Completely sealed and watertight, with stainless steel bearings and a rugged hardened stainless main gear - the industry's largest, with never a slip or miss even under heavy pressure. 100% torque-free; incredible drag system.

"This is an excellent reel for freshwater fishing too. It is very light weight and will land big fish with ease without using heavy saltwater equipment. The quality is first rate and it will probably last forever but it does have some features that take time getting use to. It doesn't have a bail so getting used to casting with the no bail system takes a little practice but once mastered you might even prefer this over a bail. It does take time to break in due to the tight tolerances but it does loosen up after time but it will never have any play and always be as smooth as ever especially when you have a big fish on the end of your line. That is when you will appreciate the quality of the drag system and the cranking power of this reel. It doesn't have an anti-reverse but with a properly set drag this is something else that really isn't needed. It casts well with braided line or monofilament and has a large capacity spool. This reel is almost indestructible but has the looks of a piece of art. It is a little pricey but I think everyone should have at least one, and one should last forever."

Quality Made In The USA......., July 12, 2007
By Fishing Since 1959 from Bullhead City, AZ

"I have been using this reel for over a year now. It has landed several hundred fish well over 10 pounds and it still performs as well as it did out of the box. It is well worth the price and it will probably last forever. The nice thing is the weight or lack of it, you can fish it all day long with little arm fatigue and it has a lifetime warranty to boot."

Excellent Quality and Power, May 23, 2006
By Fishing For The Big Ones from Bullhead City, Arizona

"It took a little getting use to using the no bail system, but you will really appreciate this reel when you hook a large fish and feel the power and overall superior quality. One of the best things also is it is super light and you can cast it all day long with no arm fatigue. Most people have never seen one and want to come check it out."
