Great product, November 26, 2008
By NitroBassN

"The 500c is a very nice unit for the money and with the Navionics it's still a great deal. I've had mine for nearly 3 years now and haven't had a single problem. It's very easy to use so you can quickly learn all the features."

Solid Unit, May 21, 2008
By eastenfish from TN

"This unit is very good. As other reviewers have stated to use the gps unit efficiently you need to buy a navtronics card. With that said this is a solid gps/sonar unit. Excellent detail and sensitivity. With the card you can find many new places to fish that you never knew existed. The color really adds to the sonar part of the unit and makes fishing more efficient."

Nice unit for the $$, March 5, 2008
By fishfan from IL

"I actually like this unit. While I agree that the internal map is not that great, not many of the other units out there are either. Some maps are better than others, but to get true lake information like navigation hazards, depth contours, underwater structure, etc, I would guess you would want the optional map card anyway.

Operation wise, this unit is fantastic and loaded with features. I had to update my software right after purchase, but that just means that Lowrance/Eagle is always improving their products and software! Updating was easy from the Eagle website, and the unit picked up the update right away. The menu is easy to navigate and use while out on the water.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because the unit is a little tough to get into and out of the mounting bracket. I live in a condo community on the water, and I must remove all of my gear every night. The side knobs have to be almost falling out to get the bracket "teeth" to come out of the side of the unit. Only a minor issue, but still an issue."

Excellent unit, but need extra chip, December 14, 2007
By bogii from VA, MA

"This is my first GPS/FF, so I don't have anything to compare it too. I have been very satisfied with the unit. FF-wise, it does what I ask it to do. I usually use the automatic fish symbols and it seems to work well.
I got the external antenna version based on what the salesman advised, and have had no reception problems.
Be advised...you have to buy the $100 Navionics chip to get full, detailed cartography (which is amazing). Without it, the mapping is useless for real navigation.
Customer service with Eagle is outstanding. I pulled off a connector end on the xducer wire while fishing it through the hull during installation--replaced no questions asked. Later, I found I had accidentally crimped the antenna wire during installation, which eventually led to the GPS unit failing. Again, no questions asked.
Anyway, highly recommended. Would be 5 stars if you didn't have to buy the extra chip."

MUST BUY ADDITIONAL NAVIONICS CHART, November 22, 2007
By crystalriver101 from FLORIDA

"Product works great. Sonar is excellent. 'BUILT IN GPS CHART IS USLESS.. YOU MUST BUY ADDIONAL NAVIONICS GOLD CARD TO SEE INSHORE DETAIL. YOU HAVE TO COUNT THE COST OF ADD ON CHART CARDS AS PART OF THE PRICE OF THESE UNITS. I TRIED OTHER BRANDS AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM . ADD ON CHARTS ARE EXPENSIVE."

Eagle-Fishelite 502 IGPS, December 5, 2006
By Yahootie from Irvington, Virginia

"An average unit overall. The standard mapping detail is very poor, sometimes inaccurate (Navaids on land rather then in the water). This was suprising since some of Lowrance's less expensive units
have execellent detail. The unit must use the optional map chips for any kind of accuracy which means another $150-$200 which makes the total cost over $600."

Fishelite 502c, September 21, 2006
By kbbentley from Napa, Ca.

"This combo fishfinder and GPS is a great deal. I purchased this unit for myself for father's day and have had fun ever since. The unit is easy to install and use. You definetly need to purchase an upgraded mapping card cause the one with the unit is ok, but as most of us say upgrading is always better. Overall the FishElite 502c is a very good unit."

Eagle FishElite 502C Review, August 6, 2006
By JamesA from Michigan

"I purchased the Eagle Fish Elite 502C in the spring of this year. This is an upgrade from a gray display sonar unit and a hand held gps. The system was easy to install and is user friendly. I have used the system in all weather and lighting conditions, in fresh water, up to depths of 100 feet. It is durable and has many user defined fields that can be displayed. I am very satisfied with the quality of the sonar graph and how well it can be fine tuned. The preinstalled gps mapping is average, so I plan to purchase the mapping upgrade. I am pleased with the overall performance of this unit so far."

Just OK!, July 15, 2006
By Scully from Ohio

"I purchased this unit in hopes of it leading me around the lake. Really I can do the same thing with this unit as I could with my old fish finder and handheld GPS.The only thing that makes it any better is that it's all in one unit. Now if you buy the optional mapping software this thing is a little better but the software is another $100 to $150 in cost. The quality is good and easy to use once you get it setup. So I would recommend this unit but don't expect it to show you much when you get out on the water unless you purchase the extra software."
