Great Value,August 7, 2009
By SkiAndFishfrom Summit County, Colorado
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money
"I purchased an 8'6" 5wt for my little guy and have ended up using it for myself on many occasions. While it isn't a Winston Boron or Sage Z-axis it is a fraction of the price! Plus, I have a hard time purchasing an expensive rod/reel for fishing many of the local Colorado trout rivers. Get this TFO for smaller fish and water and I don't think you will be disappointed!!!"

Stonker (English slang for excellent),July 13, 2009
By kitsontribefrom Preston, England
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"Lets start with the fact that I have only purchased rod two weeks ago and have fished with it once on Mosquito Lagoon, Florida while doing the family thing in Orlando. But, as a fly fisherman of 40 years and still being able to throw a fair line, the casting ability of the 9' #9 wt rod I purchased took me by surprise. In a brisk wind I could throw a long line with large flies turning over without any real problems. Better still, the blank is matt finished so no flash in the sunlight. Unfortunately, the guide put me over a lot of Black Drum and a few Redfish but neither wanted what I had on. My son, fishing bait caught a couple of smaller seatrout. So I never got to try it out whilst playing a fish. It will get some testing when I go sea fishing in UK for Sea-Bass and also for Salmon and Northern Pike. So far, as I said, it's a Stonker (And if that means something else in the US, then I am sorry if it offends anyone)"

Excellent rod for a great price,July 12, 2009
By MOTroutFisherfrom Raytown, MO
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Value for money, price, warranty
"I bought a 7ft 6in 3 wt. last year for dry fly fishing and I absolutely love this rod. I have not tried to cast it a long distance especially into the wind but I like the touch and the feel of this rod and it is a 3 wt. so I don't expect it to cast a long distance. I also own a 9ft 5wt. TiCr by TFO and it is an excellent rod as well. But even it can have problems casting into the wind, especially if you don't let the rod load the line correctly and have a tight loop. For the price, you can't beat any fly rod made by TFO. Because of the faster action of these rods, you have to get used to the feel of the rod and make sure you wait for the rod to load the line. A TFO will take less effort to shoot the line farther with a more gentle touch. I think if you buy one, you won't be sorry!"

Good Rod For What You Pay,February 17, 2009
By blueraiderfnfrom Nashville, TN
"It is true that the rod sections don't seat all the way together, I have never had a problem casting this rod and it casts well. The seating problem is hardly noticable and doesn't affect performance. For a 4 piece rod that casts fairly well, I can ignore the seating issue at this price."

"This has been a great fly rod for me and I have had it for a year now. The guy who has been teaching me to use a fly rod loves it too. Awesome investment for me and I will probably keem this thing forever. And it's made here in Texas too! Why buy from anywhere else? I reccomend this to anyone! Fun fun fun!!!"

Great for the money,December 7, 2008
By golfjlh10from springfield,mo
"This fly rod does everything that i had hoped for. This was my second flyrod purchase and was looking to upgrade from what I had. There were many other rods that cost much more, but the looks and feel said that this was good for me. It has been a blast to use. Easy to use even for a novice like me. The only caution is putting the rod together. I have the four piece 4wt. The sections do not slide flush. This took a phone call to make sure that I was not doing anything wrong. Just line up the dots and enjoy the fishing."

excellent,October 24, 2008
By SaltySouthfrom Hilton Head, SC
"I purchased the 7'6" 3wt a little while ago and I love it. This rod, especially for its length, casts beautifully. It is smooth, accurate, and fights panfish and bass very well. I paired it up with the Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock-I and it balances nicely. For the price, you can not find a nicer 3wt. I am very satisfied."

Remarkble 2-weight, at ANY price-point,August 3, 2008
By OldStony
"Had recently been given a new G Loomis WhisperCreek GLX 8-ft 2-wt 3-pc as a gift. It costs $575. Awesome rod, but couldn't get over price tag for a tiny 2-wt. Was it really noticeably better than the $150 TFO Pro-series 8-ft 2-wt 3-pc I had held on a recent visit to my local BassPro? So I bought the TFO and test casted it side by side, extensively, with my brother (also a 40+-yr trout fisherman). Figured I'd return the rod I liked least. My brother and I were stunned how well the TFO performed. What a remarkable rod, at any price! We both love it. DEFINITELY not a $425 difference. In fact, when blindfolded, neither of us could tell one rod from the other. We were laughing. We're above-average, but not expert, casters. Returned the GLX, added $425 to my "future flyfishing needs" fund. My brother has since bought one as well. (I do love the heavier GLX's, however. Haven't tried the heavier TFO's. )"

Smooth Caster,July 29, 2008
By scattergunnerfrom New Mexico
"I purchased the 8 weight with fighting butt for pike and tiger muskie and I couldn't be happier. I'm a mediocre caster even when conditions are great, but this rod's action is so smooth that I can throw tight loops even with big flies in windy conditions (I haven't hooked myself in the back of the neck for months now!). The rod handles large fish extremely well and has taken on several large muskie and pike, not to mention some saltwater battlers like snook and stripers. The fighting butt is comfortable and just the right length to add some extra leverage. For what you get, you can't beat this rod at this price."

Great rod, great price, great choice,March 14, 2008
By Ktrainfrom Springfield, MO
"I purchased the 8.5 foot 5 weight model for general trout fishing and am very satisfied with my decision. This rod excels in casting to all distances and roll casts like a dream. Comparing this rod to others in the store was the most telling for me. Models which cost two to three times more than the TFO rod did not feel nearly as good. The rod's appearance is very classy as well; matte black with gold lettering and faux carbon fiber insert with a titanium colored reel seat. I'm already contemplating purchasing the 3 and 7 weight models in this line as well. Overall, this is a great rod at an even better price."

"I bought the 9' 4 weight 4 piece rod over a year ago and it hasn't let me down. I bought it for rainbow and brook trout fishing and to bring on hiking trips. This rod is easily comparable (if not better) to a similar Sage rod I used. The action in the rod allows long and easy casts and is great on roll casting too....not to mention it's even better when you have a fish on your fly. It's a great rod and my friends who I have let use it have said they're buying one of their own. I would recommend it to anyone. You won't be disappointed! I promise."

"I use the 5 and 6 weight rods for clients that don't have their own equipment. These are serious and reliable performers, a winner for the budget consious angler. I also use the TFO Professional Spey and Switch Rods for Trout, Salmon, and Steelhead fishing. With a lifetime unconditional guarantee and great customer service through TFO, need I say more."

OK for a starter,December 6, 2007
By FishingHikerfrom Southern california
"I fished a 7'6" 3wt. for over a year when I started fly fishing. Back then I didn't know any better. I Feel that TFO charges about $60 to much for their rods. I would look into a Bass Pro rod before a TFO, as most are lighter and less bulky and less expensive and include a rod tube. I gave my TFO away to a friend that was interested in learning to fly fish. I think they are good starter rods just a little pricey for what you get."

Great Product for the Price,September 26, 2007
By Anonymous
"I bought the TFO Professional Series 9' 9wt. when I was new to Fly Fishing a few months ago for saltwater and offshore use. So far, this rod has been excellent and has easily been able to accommodate my increasing ability to cast. I enjoy the break down into a 4-piece assembly for travel, as I can keep it in my car trunk when I'm just driving around town, or for storage on my boat.
If you're new to fly fishing, or just want a quality rod that won't break the bank, this is a solid choice that is capable of catching some serious fish."

TFO Lefty Pro -- Awesome,August 5, 2007
By ginkyfrom Pennsylvania
"This rod is absolutely amazing. I was using a low end Orvis until just a few weeks ago, and I was shocked by the improved castibility of this rod. I purchased a 5wt and have seen an instant improvement in my presentation. For those of us who can't just drop $500 on a decent fly rod, this rod is a fantastic alternative. It also has internal furrels and a sweet minimalist aesthetic -- all gold an black. Wow!"
