Disadvantages: Durability, Performance
"I bought several of these a while back and was not impressed. The action on them isn't all that great and on two of them the eyes fell of after one use. I could have just picked up a couple of dud ones, but I wasn't to pleased."

Nice action...poor quality...,

"I am new to swimbaiting to I started with BPS XPS swimbaits. Before I got them out of the package, the eyes fell of one of them. I got one rigged up, cast the bait, and hooked into a small LMB who proceeded to rip the bait apart. Very poor quality. If you don't mind 1 bait 1 fish, they're fine. I would suggest the Shadilicous by Strike King. BETTER movement and much better quality for the same price.

Good action, terrible durability,
January 9, 2008

"Like the others said, this is a great looking bait in the water, the action is awesome and its a relatively cheap lure compared to the others. However, one good bite can completely destroy these things. I've caught some giant northerns, bass, and a few muskies with the larger lures and a lot of crappie with the smaller one. The only real drawback is the durability. The internal weight will rip right out of the body (its connected to the treble hook) often on the first fish if it's thrashing around. I've also had a fish hit on the first cast with a new 4.5" bait and miss, only to reel it in and see its missing the tail.
I still will purchase them occasionally when I'm heading up north, I'll gladly drop a few bucks for a chance at a big muskie or pike, knowing the lure will be worthless after one fish. Otherwise, I've started purchasing the yamamoto bodies or a similar style that will fit on a EWG hook or jighead, you can get a 5pk or so for roughly the same price as one of these swimbaits.
Overall a great lure, just wish they held up longer, I love swimbait fishing."

Great Bait,
July 13, 2007
"Considering the outrageous cost that some swimbaits are, this bait is a bargin.
I have used both sizes. I like the larger baby bass. It is very soft and has great action. It is almost neutral bouyant. I let it sink for 5 seconds and reel it painfully slow. It seems to catch bigger fish. First cast was a 6 lb'r.
After a few fish, the eyes come off. The bait slides up the line exposing the hook hanger and weight system - which also falls off on bigger fish. I repair mine with split shot and doll eyes.
Durability is not like a hard bait, but for the price and the size fish it catches - it's a fair trade off.
Great bait - for any shallow water bass water."

worth the cost,
July 10, 2007
"I purchased four of the 41/2 inch models and have caught only a few bass on them but one of those fish was a 4.8lb smallmouth that won me some money in the bass weekend series."

No Durability,
June 17, 2007
"I purchased the four inch model in hopes of finding a decent sized soft swimbait that wasn't too heavy to be fished in shallow water. While I'll admit it fit the bill as far as the look and action I was looking for, it lacked any durability what-so-ever. During my first and only test of this lure I had one bite and caught one bass of meager proportions and the bait was done. As I feared might happen, the tail was ripped off of the lure immediately rendering it useless for further fishing. Maybe if they came in a package of three or four for the cost they'd be worthwhile, but at five bucks a pop, they just aren't worth the potential cost-to-catch ratio."
