Great Black Powder Gun!,March 5, 2008
By nathan7cdv
"This gun shoots great, is VERY accurate, and very well-balanced! I had never owned a black powder gun and this was a great choice for my first one. It came with everything I needed and I was in the woods and targeting the gun within an hour after opening it."

"This is my first muzzleloader. It handles great, and has a perfect ballance point. Within 15 shots I was shooting hole on hole at 50 yds. using 80 gr of FFF 777 it kicks less than a 20 ga. I am very pleased with this gun."

Good rifle for the money,January 8, 2007
By cowboypoetfrom North Texas
"I bought this in-line in .54 cal for kicks not expecting much. I thougt it might be a fun addition to my shooting time, I was right. I wound up putting a 3x9 scope on it and frankly, it doesn't shoot much different than a modern deer rifle to about 125 yards. I haven't experimented with sabots, but I have enjoyed using the powerbelt bullets, and I can shoot acceptable groups at the range. I use the Pioneer Powder product and both the magnum and regular #11 caps. I have put a few hundred loads through it using round balls and powerbelts. I use 125 grains of powder with my loads thus far. I haven't hunted with it yet, but I figure those 345 grain hollowpoint or aerotip powerbelts ought to flatten a deer. It is easy to clean (especially with the Pioneer Powder or Jim Shockey Gold), easy to service, accurate and cheap. It is also easy to shoot AND it can hold 150 grains of powder, which is a plus for longer range shooting and big bullets. I would recommend this rifle for anyone. It is rugged, simple and accurate. For the record I own two other black powder firearms....and 1851 Colt Navy revolver in .36 cal and a CVA Kentucky Rifle in .45 cal, both built from a kit. They are fun to shoot as well. I have taken deer with the Rifle using patched round balls. If you are expecting a "traditional" experience from the Evolution, you will not get it. The evolution is the modern counterpart. It is a good firearm and has its niche. Good Luck!"
