"I just received these boots and the RedHead Snake Boot Socks yesterday in the mail and put them on to go scouting for tree stand locations. Although they are stiff and need some breaking in, they were comfortable right out of the box. After nearly three hours of wearing them in the field in 80 degree plus weather, my feet were completely dry and comfortable. I thought for sure my feet would be sweaty from the thick snake boot socks, but they did a great job of wicking the moisture away and keeping my feet dry.

Poor waterproofing,August 31, 2009

"Yesterday I really submerged them in about ankle deep water hunting in the Florida Everglades and had water filter through the tops of the toes! Not even 10 min in to our trekking and my day was ruined!
I have a flat feet and so a ladies size would not do (ladies shoes tend to be narrow). VERY comfortable. That I cannot complain about.
BUT regarding waterproof... it must have worn off or there is a limit to it. Compared to my husbands rocky's which were shorter... his feet were bone dry. I took off my socks and squeezed water out of them. I went home barefoot :("

"overall this is a good boot. havent had a snake test them out but hope that never happens. the boot would be better in zip up but i could have bought them instead so thats on me. kinda rough on on the ankles but not too bad but they are hard to pull off."

"i wore them today doing some scouting in some unfarmilliar woods today annd they done very well. i bought mine in garland texas at bass pro and would like to thank the two guys in the boot department for helping me. if you had a little bit more mony i would say buy the rocky but the redhead has done good for me! i cant wait to try them out on a cottonmouth"

"These boots look great, wear great, and are great, with one major flaw. These boots are not waterproof as advertised. Therefore, I would not recommend them if you plan to hunt hard, especially in early spring. I first found out that the boots were not waterproof when walking across a tall pasture early in the morning. The wet grass caused the boots to leak and my feet got soaked. Then two days later I went turkey hunting in the rain. Bad idea. The boots and my feet were soaked again. I really wish these boots were waterproof they would easily get 5 stars. If you hunt only in dry conditions, these would be great boots."

"I have had these boots for about a year now and have no complaints what so ever. They are very comfortable, but you may want to get a (.5 ) inch size larger as I did, thanks to somebody else's recommendation. The only resaon that I gave them four stars is because I have not been subject to a lot of rain or mud while wearing them. I only wear them during turkey season and not during deer season. Great Boots!!!"

"I hunt for just about anything behind Robins Air Force base which has thick swamp, and brush. I came up to about an inch from the top of the boots in water and was very dry. I was unfortunate to be able to test the snake protection against a rattle snake not to long ago, and you'll be pleased to know that these boots worked great. They are cmfortable after a few hours of walking in them and give a lot of support to my ankles so I don't have to worry about rolling anything out there. I got these for $79.99. They are worth every penny. Great buy, you'll be paying over 150 for same kind of boot."

"bought these for about $60 when they were phazing out the hardwoods hd green colors and replacing stock with hd apg. i wear these in my muddy camp for weeks without needing any other shoes. everone else is going thru everything they brought and everything is soaked. a little to warm for summer though and could be a little warmer in winter."

"I got these boots when they were on sale during the fall sale. I'm using them now in the swamps of Florida. The do need some time to be broken in. The boots took me a good two days of walking around in to loosen up comfortably. Going to and back from my tree stand, I have to cross some water that's about 12" deep for a good stretch, approx 1/2 mile, and I have had no issues of water leaking in. I don't have a problem with sweaty feet during the low 90 degree mid-days from dawn till dusk. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on which side you want to look on, I had the pleasure of testing out how good snake proof these boots are with a cotton mouth. The snake didn't have a biting chance of getting thru the boot."

"First off i wanna say that these boots are not waterproof. I had the pleasure finding out the hard way. Not only did they leak, but they had mulitple leak areas. The first one was at the back of my heel on one boot and the second came shortly after around the toes of the other boot. I will say that they did keep my feet cool, but man did they stink when I finally got the boots off. Spend the extra money to get a solid boot!!"

"I had the honor of owning 2 pair of these boots. THEY ARE NOT WATER PROOF. If you are a deer hunter its going to be wet some days and you need to be as comftorable as possible, you will not be in these boots dont bother."
