Advantages: Design, Features, High Quality Disadvantages: temp not compatable with all lowrance units
"This is a replacement of a 70 lb MotorGuide that broke when I didn't stow it properly. My fault! I am impressed by it's power and speed it moves my TR21DC. The only set back was the temp transducer is not compatable with my Lowrance 332, but a separate temp sensor fixed that. Overall it's a good product."

Think Twice before buying,July 24, 2009

Advantages: there isn't one Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Quality
"Tour Model 70lb. After the first year of use the foot control is so stiff it will wear you out after a day of fishing. The direction indicator won't stay adjusted to show you the right direction the motor is going so you have to pull the top off to adjust it. The front locking pin (which holds the trolling motor down in the water while running) started working its way out so you have to keep a constent eye on it since it will fall out. I just order a new locking pin since mine finally fell out into the lake. I owned a motorguide years ago and didn't like it either. I will be looking at the minnkota's.There has to be a better quality trolling motor out there somewhere."

"i have owned this trolling motor now 2 years and it has been in the shop more than it has been on the front of my boat.. and the warranty repair center cannot figure out what is wrong with it and motorguide tells me i am stuck with this piece of junk.. so save yourself the hassle of the mess and just buy a minnkota"

Questionable life expectency,January 8, 2009
By fishinguy831from Delaware
"I bought a 70lb thrust tour A little over a year ago. Once I got the foot pedal tension adjusted, I was pretty pleased overall. On slow speeds it is very quiet but 40% or more and I'm not really that impressed with the high pitched whine that it makes. I fish some rivers that have a pretty strong tide and 40 % and sometimes more are very common. Now the fun part 1 year and about a month all at once it started to sound like a helicopter under water. Well needless to say that after a year the warrantee is up and it was going to cost 400.00 out of pocket to get the digital and brushes replaced. so at this point it resides in my shed on the floor where it's going to stay until I can replace it with another motor. These motors today cost way to much money to only get a little over a year out of them. We should expect more from such a well known company"

"POWER TRIP",October 17, 2008
By kickerfish641
"I bought a TOUR 82# 24 VOLT, hafta say... its one of the best purchases i've made. I fish a medium sized river several times a week. Before I put the new MOTORGUIDE on, if the wind was up and the water high (witch was often the case) I couldnt make any headway or fish effectivly with my old motor. The 82# has power to spare,is whisper quite, and is simple to install and maintain"

Great Motor,July 9, 2008

"I purchased my 82lb motorguide tour last year. I have not had any problems with it. I like how the steering has no torque and the power coming from this thing is amazing. It moves my 19ft boat with ease."

Best trolling motor ever used,May 19, 2008
By NCbassMan83from Gastonia, NC
"I'm not sure why this trolling motor is getting such a bad wrap. I've had the 70 lbs thrust model for a few months now and absolutely love it. This is an extremely solid trolling motor!! The fact that it has no plastic parts really appeals to me. The digital steering is unreal. With previous motors I coud not turn at high speeds, as I would need to let off then turn then give it power again. This motor will turn 400 degrees in 2 seconds on full power. Very quiet and installation was a breeze. I guess some guys install it without using the rubber pads (no idea why), but make sure you use them as it will prevent rattling around during high speed runs and vibrations while trolling. By the way, I use this motor in actual tournaments every week as well as during practice 4-5 times a week!! From a hardcore bass fisherman to other bass guys out there - this is the best trolling motor I've ever used. Great job Motorguide."

Solid Troller,May 14, 2008
By eastenfishfrom TN
"I bought a new boat which had a 70# 24 volt on it. The strength of this motor is unreal. I like the roller speed control allows you to really customize the speed. The motor responds well and I have had no problems in the first month of use. The steering is a little tight only reason it didn't get 5 stars. Don't know if it's because I haven't gotten use to it or not but I still like my old minkota better."

worst motor,November 12, 2007
By bummed
"Brand new boat and T-motor, water leaked into the power head due to a faulty transducer. Now I wait for the parts to come off national back order so I can fix it. All the while I cant even use the boat for the tourny's I bought it for. The worst part is that motorguide has done nothing to make the situation better. I would think that if you buy a brand new motor, and it never worked, it should be replaced right away, and not put on the back burner. Motorguides slogan sould'nt be "Never Stop". It should be "Never Went"."

the worst,August 19, 2007
By kleeman42
"the first two months i owned this tour 109 36v motor it failed completely in a tournament. I called motor guide to no avail and ended up driving 100 miles round trip for a new brush kit. i have since put in a speed shaft and a constant on/momentary switch and the cable always comes off the roller. i wish someone would steal it off of my boat. I tied a $100 bill to it but they only took the money."

worst trolling motor,July 13, 2007
By dub
"I bought one of these trolling motors last year and have had many problems with it. first the pull cord broke which will happen on all trolling motors. the main problem is the steering. the steering is very tight and the metal wire keeps jumping off the rollers. this causes a lot of time wasted durin tournaments trying to put the wire back on just so it can come off again"

"we have a lowrance 500c on the bow but we were always getting interference. i didn't realize how bad it was until we put a new motor guide digital trolling motor. first the trolling motor was smooth as silk and just unreal quite. then when i turned on the 500c i just couldn't believe the detail i'm getting now. the is the VERY BEST trolling motor that i have tried. THIS IS A 5 ******. Don't buy anything until you tryout the motor guide digital. HUNTER"

Motorguide Tour Edition Trolling Motors,October 5, 2006
By gambler94from Central Illinois
"I have used Motorguide trolling motors for over fifteen years, tournament fishing, with the vast majority of it being trouble free. I recently purchased a new boat that came rigged with a Minkota and let me tell you there is no comparison between the two. My first day on the water with my new boat was on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage in Wisconsin and let me tell you this lake is loaded with big rocks, stumps, and obsticles that will test any trolling motor. Five hours into the trip, I caught a five pound bruiser Small Mouth of a point that was loaded with stumps. After taking some pictures I released the fish, stepped on my foot pedal to move the boat, and smacked a stump with the trolling motor. All of a sudden I had this nasty vibration coming from the Minkota. Low and behold the prop had shattered a blade. This has never happened to any of my Motorguide trolling motors. Before this happened I noticed that it was very difficult to control the Minkota. Yes it was a new trolling motor and I new it would take a while to get used to it but after the stump incident I could not even fish. I spent the rest of the day driving around northern Wisconsin looking for a new prop tha would fit my trolling motor. Never Again! Motorguide is by far the best trolling motor on the market. I will be removing the Minkota and replacing it with a new Motorguide Tour Edition."
