Quite a suprise,July 10, 2007
By TITANFAN79from Tennessee
"I recently purchased a new reel and needed a rod to go with it. A BPS employee recommended the rod because he said in his opinion it was as good as the high end rods made by other companys. I figured if he was only half right it was a deal so I bought one. I bought the 6'6" MH model The next morning I caught about 15 1-2 lb bass until I boated a 6lb largemouth with it and to my surprise the rod had great backbone. That fish fought for quite some time and went under the boat almost bending the rod in half twice! That rod took a beating and held its own. The sensitivity was surprising as well. I had no problem feeling my lures bounce the bottom. I ended up catching 25 bass and felt every one of them way before the line "ran" . My fishing buddy was so impressed with how it handled, he bought one and it has replaced his high end rod. This is a great product for the money. Try one and I promise you will be surprised"

Good Bang for the Buck,October 3, 2009
By dgrooms72from Tennessee
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"Of course there are better, more sensitive, more expensive rods out there you can buy. But for a weekend angler on a budget who wants a dependable rod that has good backbone and isn't going to break easily, this is an excellent buy. I have three of the 6'6" medium action rods, and I love them. I have a couple of Ugly Stiks too, but they seem to be a little thick for bass fishing. These BPS Graphite Series Rods are a little thinner, and feel a little more sensitive to me. And again, they're surprisingly strong. I take good care of my equipment, but I'm also a little clumsy sometimes. I've had my three Graphite Series rods between 2 and 3 years, and haven't broken any of them, not even at the tip. You can also catch these on sale sometimes for $29.99, which makes them even better."

Perfect Kayak rod,August 4, 2009
By Joemumsfrom Waterford Works, NJ
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, price
"I bought this rod last summer and paired it w/ a Mitchell 308Xe and 10lb. Trilene XT. It's a 5'6" 1pc. model and it works GREAT for all the kayak fishing I do (Old Town Otter). It's been very durable, is easy to handle in the yak and has nice tip feel w/ good backbone. It has landed many feisty bass, pickerel and crappie with ease."

"I ordered this rod when I was delpoyed in Iraq and couldn't wait to get home and use it. I'm a fisherman on a budget so I was excited when i held it. Light weight and very sensitive. I love the long handle. Great for worming w/ Texas rig. My rod was recently stolen and I will replace it with two more."

can't beat for under $50,June 2, 2009
By BazzBustrfrom Warner Robins, GA
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"I was a little hesitant when I purchased a 6' model to fish small ponds, thinking that the cheap price meant it was a cheaply made rod. Boy was I wrong!! For the sale price of $20, you can't buy a better rod!! The sensitivity of the rod is outstanding, and for being a light action rod with a fast tip, the backbone was surprisingly good. For all those reading this, if money is tight and you want a quality rod for a good price, this is the rod to get!!!"

Good rod!,May 26, 2009
By ChapmanLakeFishHunter
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Value for money
"If you are looking for a good budget friendly rod, then look no further. This rod handles very well and is more sensitive then I thought it would be. The only complaints that I have is that the eyes are a little further apart then I am used to and I wish that there was a hook keeper on it. But, a fuji hook keeper solved that, and I really have no problems with this rod. It has good castability, flex and nice comfortable cork handle to it! Buy it and you will like it!"

My favorite rods,March 20, 2009
By Greatoutfitfrom Branson, MO
"I love these rods for the quality. To assemble this rod yourself the parts would cost way more than thirty five bucks. The graphite is strong but sensitive. I fish a Sahara on a seven foot medium strength rod for multiple species and I love it. You can't match this rods quality for the price."

This 21" largemouth was one of the biggest bass I landed with my 7'MH bass pro graphite series rod.
(Click anywhere inside this popup to close it)
The Bass Pro graphite series rod handled this 28" northern with easse.
"I'm giving this rod five stars based on the price point. I have used Guide series, Berkley, and ugly sticks in this price range and I like the bass pro graphite series rods better. These rods are very light weight for there price and comfortable to fish, they are much lighter than other rods for this price. I have a 7' MH and I landed plenty of large and smallmouth bass, and a few northerns with this rod. I've read other reviews where people talk about breaking rods, but my rod proved to be strong enough to pull five pound largmouths through thick weeds. It also held up landing smallies up to four pounds and five or six pound northerns. Are there nicer rods out there? Sure, but for $35 I haven't seen any. If this is you price range I would recomend this rod. If you want to spend a little more on a nicer rod, get a Bass Pro XPS on sale for $70."

Good rod but did not last too long,December 14, 2008
By ElJefe01from Miami, Fl
"I purchased this rod at the behest of a BPS emp. the rod was wonderful. I got the 6'6" 2 piece ML one. it worked great the 5 times i took it out. but it did break on me in three pieces after catching a small little 2 lbs fish. I'm not sure if i got a bad one but i so enjoyed the feel of the rod and the lightness of it so much that for the 30 bucks i paid for it it was worth it and i will definitely purchase again."

Great rod!,November 13, 2008
By FishjunkieMofrom Detroit, MI
"I bought 2 of them on sale hoping that they were decent rods. One is a 6'6 M, and the other is a 7'MH. Used them both all season, and they have definitely held up well. I use one for Carolina rigs, and other for Jig&Pig. Caught quite a few fish on both. Sensitivity is great, and have a good backbone. Have no complaints. Great rod for the price."

Maybe I got a bad one,September 26, 2008
By RichieFishfrom Heart of the South=Georgia
"I got the 5'6" rod and have used it for a while and got to like it. Today while fishing I set the hook and the rod snapped in three pieces! I think it's a really good rod for the money and think maybe I just got a bad one. Got the casting model in 6 ft. length and really like it. Might get me another one via warranty but am undecided. Good luck with yours!"

very disappointed,August 12, 2008
By nautimindedfrom Daytona Beach, FL
"I purchased 3 of the 5'6" rods online and was very pleased initially with the looks and the feel of the rod. On my very first outing, I fought several fish from my kayak and liked the action of the rod until one ran directly behind me and snapped the rod with what seemed like little effort. The fish was under 2lbs, and since It was the only rod I brought that day, so ended my fishing trip. I lost confidence in the rods and returned all 3."

6'6 Medium Weight Pictured with Shimano Sustain 3000
"About a month ago I purchased a 6'6 medium power Bass Pro Graphite Series Rod as a 2 piece rod to keep in the truck. It was on sale for $19.95 and came with high recommendations so I gave it a shot. It was a good call. Overall, it is an attractive looking rod and is durable. It has held up to some of my friends using it who do not know a thing about fishing and its finish has held up quite well and it does not scratch easily. The cork is durable and the handle (while a bit bulky) is still comfortable. The rod does not have an area to fasten your hook to when not in usage, so be prepared to chew up the cork or just remove your hook when not in usage. The rod has a nice spine to it and it is very well balanced and relatively light, especially for an inexpensive 2 piece rod. It is strong enough to pull larger fish from the weeds, but has pretty good sensitivity. If you are looking for a decent spare rod or you are beginning to get into the hobby, consider this rod as it is a great bang for your buck."

"I bought this rod for a spur of the moment fishing trip while working out of state. I chose it because of its price, but don't let the price fool you it's light, sturdy, sensitive, and well balanced. It could use a hook keeper but thats just a minor inconvienence."
