Cheap, OK but dirty, a few FTF's,
March 17, 2010
By rsrocket

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Quality, dirty, bullets fall out the box while you leave the store
"Pros: CHEAP, shoots well through bolt action rifles, accurate to over 100 yards
Cons: Dirty, dirty, dirty. Barrel looks like a coal mine shaft after a few hundred rounds but a single swipe with a bore-snake cleans it out.
The golden bullets work fine for plinking and sighting in scopes. I agree with the others that the packaging is terrible and the first thing you want to do is to put everything in a new box or a zip lock bag. The residue from these bullets is pretty nasty, but it didn't seem to affect accuracy of the gun. I would suspect that an autoloader might foul up with some heavy duty shooting so I would stick to using it only for sessions of a few hundred rounds between cleanings.
The FTF's are a little above average. If you are really picky about your ammo, stay away from this stuff, but if your gun can eat any ammo and you don't mind cleaning after each session (I don't), this is ideal for just fooling around and its usually readily available (mostly due to its deservedly below average reputation). That's OK because I know I can find this stuff and buy it only when I need it."

OK - Value for the Cost,
March 15, 2010
By timtlc
from San Diego CA
Advantages: Performs well, Value for money
"Mostly pretty good. Had a few duds. Wants a clean Ruger P512MKIII or she tends to jam loading into the chamber. Better than some other brands, had better experience with some round nose lead (non-hollow point) by Federal. But the price is right for 525. No jams in my Ruger 10-22, but nothing jams in that with the rotary magazine."

"A friend,my cousin, dad, uncle, and I shot a box of this ammo one day and it was on target the hole time beacuase it was verry clean and did not make the gun that dirty. At just under 4 cents a shot its cheaper than most pelets and is a lot more fun to shoot."

Great Day At the Range,
March 11, 2010
By 1bear
from California
Advantages: Performs well, Value for money
Disadvantages: Performance
"The golden bullet does a fantastic job for inexpensive plinking. Not all 22Lr ammo is perfect. But when you consider maybe one or two dud's out of 525rd's that isn't that bad. I use it in the falling gun's S&W Mp15-22,Ruger10-22,S&WSporter22pistol,HenryGoldenboy22rifle. You can't beat the price for what you get. A metal coated bullet. I believe it to be Brass coated. Very happy with this ammo."

Good enough,
March 8, 2010
By SDJoslin

Advantages: Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"Just Purchased 5 boxes at this price.
I put a whole box of 525 through a Ruger 10/22 and a Walther P22 and not one misfire.
I don't know what the people that have issues shoot, but a quality gun, doesn't seem to have any problems with this ammo.
.22 ammo around here is hard to find, which made this a great item.
And the price is right!

You get what you pay for.,
February 28, 2010

Advantages: Durability, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"I can't shoot lead at my local indoor range so these Jacketed Remington's are it. I've shot over 1000 rounds of this bulk .22 ammo and just can't find anything worth complaining about. Most rounds have been shot through a Ruger Mk II, 22/45 Target Model. Accuracy with this ammo is not a problem, but remember, you get what you pay for. This ammo is for plunking, not for self defense. There are a lot better choice of bullets on the market for that. But in todays market, you can't beat the price. I just bought 2 more boxes."

Great round to use,
April 10, 2009
By jrkmt1
"I have fired many thousands of rounds of the Remington Golder Bullet through a variety of arms and have never had a problem, unlike other types of ammo. I use this in a Remington Nylon 66 (butt feed semiauto rifle), Marlin M60 semiauto rifle, Glenfield M25 bolt action rifle, Ruger Standard RST4 pistol, Jennings J22 pistol, and the following revolvers: Rohm RG23 w/1.75" bbl, Rohm RG23 with 3" bbl, and H&R M923 w/6" bbl. The only guns that ever had a problem with the Rem GB were a pair of antique Harrington&Richardson .22 Specials but they have problems with ALL types of ammo. I have found that high velocity .22 ammo is necessary in any semiauto firearm if you want the bolt to cycle every time. Anyway, this ammo has always given me great performance and very good accuracy, even out to 125 yards. The only other round that does better in accuracy is CCI MiniMag."

Great ammo,
March 25, 2009
By Jerebear
from Covington, GA
"The Remington® .22LR Golden® Bullet may not work in finicky firearms, but for most cases, this is a great round! I have a .22LR rifle that hates almost every kind of ammo and it fires these with maybe one hiccup every couple hundred rounds. I fault the gun for that though, not the ammo. I also have a Marlin 60 that I use for squirrel and rabbit hunting, and it LOVES these! Very good all around .22LR round! These are very clean compared to other brands of cheap .22LR ammo. Some other brands leave a very heavy residue that can affect cycling in a semi-auto firearm, but these leave very little residue and work well in every gun I've tried them in. Highly recommend."

Fine for plinking,
February 16, 2009
By archergmv

"I have had a few missfires per box but not near what some claim. We go through 10-15 boxes a year using bolt actions, semi auto's and pistols. We use various brands of ammo and have found most affordable bulk ammo to perform about the same. I dont consider this a hunting round and would not recommend it as such. If your just plinkng with the kids its fine. If your hunting or a serious shooter look elsewhere."

Poor Quality Ammo,
January 10, 2009
By Woodchucker
from Williamsport, PA
"What ever happened to the days you could buy a brick of 22's, properly packed in seperate 50 count boxes, and have them all feed properly with no misfires? This stuff is expensive in comparison to what it used to cost ($20 is no deal!) and I am constantly either re-seating the bolt or ejecting dud rounds. They call it the "Golden Bullet", but it's more like fool's gold to the people who can't retun this junk."

Filthy ammo, poor quality!!!,
December 18, 2008
By Shelly888
from CT
"About the only positive about this product is the price... The boxes are poorly designed where much of the ammo fell out during shipping and was just loose in the shipping box. The ammo is filthy! After loading just 2 mags my fingers were completely covered in metal flake. The quality is also very inconsistant. Have had MANY misfires as well as rounds that are just assembled poorly with the bullet attached to the casing at an angle! Very inexpensive ammo, but not worth the hassle - will not purchase again!!!"

NO MORE Cheap,
December 2, 2008
By Laker07
"This ammunition seems like a bargain due to its price. My friends and I have shoot it out of 2 different 10/22's and have 10-30 miss fires per box, i have also shot it out of my bolt action .22 and had seven or eight miss fires. Pay the extra money and buy Winchester Wild Cat, or CCI."
