Great as a mobile tranducer mount

Advantages: Style/Design, Value for money
Disadvantages: see assembly inst's
"The bad rap on this product comes from rather poor instructions for assembly. The company should listen to their buyers and include color photos and larger print."

sully mount

,
January 7, 2012
By exocet77
from Ontario
Advantages: User friendly, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: instructions
"I give it a 4 start. Overall for the price, its well worth it. Seems to be crafted well and its one of the only ones I could find. Ya the instructions or horrible, but its not hard to figure out from the pic.
I will have to get new bolts and do a minor mod on portable piranha 160 to get it mounted proper. I have no problems with that. It will be great not to always have to put the suction mount on every few mins."

Interestingly Mixed Review!

,
August 8, 2011
By RiverBoater
from Watertown, WI
Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality, unique solution for an unaddressed problem
Disadvantages: Difficult to use, terrible instructions
"We bought this relatively expensive tool for use in mounting a transducer on our pontoon boat in a rocky, shallow (1' to 8'), river. The plan is to use it to identify rocky areas to avoid during low water rather than as a fish finder.
The device is very well made with apparently high quality materials and workmanship. Sadly, offsetting the quality of the device is the horrible assembly and implementation instruction sheet. This is one of those instruction sheets that you hope that when the writer enters the afterlife, the instructions for finding water are written in the same confusing way!
Under the "I wish they had . . ." category, it would be nice to have a "break-away" feature where, if hit by something in the water, the device would "give" or bend rather than break or be torn off the boat.
We would give it a limited recommendation based upon the above comments."

Buy your own Hardware

,

By Fisherman7
from Norhten Wisconsin
Advantages: Durability
Disadvantages: needs different hardware & better instructions
"This product is very stout, which is the reason I purchased it.
The directions are poor, and you need to buy different hardware, to flip the x-ducer mounting plate from the view on the directions so you don't pick up every weed that hits it."

Made in the USA!

,
June 16, 2011
By ChrisinWI
from Wausau, WI
Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality, Features
Disadvantages: assembly directions are really bad., pricey for what you get.
"I use the basic portable mount (the least expensive original one) and I have two of these mounts now. One was bought by my dad over a decade ago and works just as good as new. Not one issue with strength and no corrosion now that it's been passed on to me.
I bought the second one this week to add a second sonar to the front of my boat. These mounts let me put both transducers on opposite sides of the transom and lift them out when launching the boat or remove them entirely when working on the outboard. And I never have to drill holes in my hull.
I gave it a four because the directions are abysmal. Really bad. They have never updated them in all these years.
Just follow the pictures and you'll eventually get it together. Take your time and leave the nuts loose until you are sure it's assembled right.
You can't go wrong with these mounts. Even with the really really bad directions."

Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality, Value for money, Features
"I live in Saskatchewan and I require a portable bracket so I can switch the transducer from boat to boat. When we go north for lake trout and monster pike my fish finder comes along. For transducer adjustment and portability this bracket is a must. I do recommend this product, it is well built."

Great product

By FISHN111
Advantages: Design, Value for money, Features
"I purchased this product so I would not have to put any holes(screws) in my boat to attach my transducer. It took me a few minutes to put it together, I just looked at the picture on the instructions and figured it out. Ive had my boat out 3 times since installing it and it works great."

MAIL ORDER MISTAKE

,
April 26, 2011
By KARDER
Disadvantages: does not fit with hummingbird
"The item went together just fine and looked just like the picture. Would have been nice to know that my Hummingbird transducer bracket would not work with it before I ordered. I hate drilling holes in my fiberglass boat but seem to have no choice if I want to use the depth finder."

Transducer Bracket 38-560-235-00

,
April 8, 2011
By Texalian
Advantages: Durability, High Quality
Disadvantages: frustration with poorly written instructions
"Thoroughly impressed with the robustness of this product. However, out of the box and going by the supplied instructions I could not use the bracket on my Jon boat with a 15" transom. Going by the limited, ineffective, instructions and poor graphics, which did not match the individual parts I received, the bracket could not be mounted onto the transom. After modifying the slide bar by inverting it the bracket works well for my use."

OK but could be better

,
April 4, 2011
By ADKPicker
Disadvantages: assembly
"For something as simple as this item is, the assembly time was ridiculous. The instructions didn't even show one part and it was only by looking at the package picture carefully that I was able to do the assembly. The manufacturer should get a graphic designer to do a new sheet. Other than the assembly problem, the item works well on my boat."

Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality, Features
Disadvantages: Appearance
"Some reviewers have said that these brackets are difficult to assemble. The directions not very good but by using them and the pictures it is very easy to put this together. It is a well built device and will work perfectly on the transom of my 12' Porta Bote."

Didn't Impress

,
November 5, 2010
By BullMoose
from Delaplaine,AR
Advantages: User friendly, Value for money, Features
Disadvantages: Performance
"The bracket is very easy to use and install. It serves its purpose and that is about all I can say it does. That is why I gave it 3 stars. The reason I dropped two stars is because when I used it while moving half speed in my boat, water was being thrown onto me . I had it set at the correct height and location for the transducer I had attached. I have to remove it every time I move. I would just drill the holes for the transducer if I knew it wouldnt break off during duck season"

"I do not know why people are complaining that this item is hard to assemble. It took me no more than 10 minutes to assemble the item and I did not even use the instructions. I just looked at the pictures and went from there. I also had no problem mounting my Humminbird transducer either. The carriage bolts that came with the bracket is plenty long enough."

not good quality

,
May 12, 2010
By billybass99

Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Quality, instructions
"This product had very sharp edges and a LOT of metal shavings. I had to file the edges down and clean the entire thing. NOT good when using sensitive equipment. The instructions are dismal and hard to read, let alone very sketchy. Better pictures should be provided (how much does a full sheet of paper cost versus a half sheet). Have to jerry rig the thing to get the transducer mounted properly!"

better than holes in the transom

"I bought this to mount my Lowrance structure scan transducer. It allowed me to move it around for the best possible location without drilling any holes in the boat. This is the second one on the boat, I had the regular transducer mounted this way for four years and both mounts share the same side of the transom with no problems."

portable transducer

,
April 28, 2010
By dhops
Disadvantages: Difficult to use
"Overall, the product is good. It allows you to transfer your depthfinder to a rental boat if necessary. The bad news is that the bolts that are provided to be used to mount the transducer are WAY to small to accomodate the mount. Longer carriage bolts are unavailable, so you have to figure out a creative way to mount the transducer to the bracket. It's not easy."
