Excellent Stand-up Rod,November 5, 2009
By Bluewater
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money, short butt = great for ladies
"I currently have purchased 6 of these rods for myself and family members. All have worked very well on fish up to 150 lb and 7 feet long. The rods have a very short slick butt that is excellent for ladies. This is my wife's favorite rod. The only drawback is that the slick butts will scratch. I have had no problems with the guides or tip. I plan on purchasing more in the future."

Best Bang for the Buck!,May 7, 2009
By DinoSportfrom Key West, FL
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"I'm fishing hard in the Florida Keys and have tried a few different conventional rods in recent years--Star, Crowder and other Penn models. I am BY FAR happiest with this rod. The features--strong guides, aluminum reel seat & Slick Butt--are hard to find in another rod at this price. Also, I've never had a ceramic guide come out (like I have on many other rods). Through attrition, I will replace all of my current rods with Penn Mariner Stand-ups."

6' Standup Rod,December 7, 2006
By CaptainChrisfrom San Diego, CA
"I recently purchased 4 of these and fitted each with a Shimano TLD20...I chose this rod because of the cost and that it came with an alluminum seat for the reel... Excellent Rod, durable, flexible, and does the job as well as my $250 + rods.... very comfortable and easy to hold on even during the long battle.... and yes, just like the ad says it is good looking too especially with the black graphite with red / yellow trim TLD20 on it... the rod doesn't look like the one shown it is actually has a black seat with red decal just above the fore grip with red decal around each of the eyes... super rod can't say enough about it... If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative with the expensive features... this is the rod for you!"
