Half the size of comparable lead weights - and twice as loud!A real breakthrough in performance. Environmentally safe, lead-free weights are 95% tungsten/5% nickel. Since tungsten is much heavier and harder than lead, you can downsize your offerings and still keep contact with the bottom - AND create more sound attraction, too. Worm weights have special inserts to protect your line.

Can be made to work,September 17, 2009
By Shadillacfrom Alamo City, TX
Advantages: Value for money, customizeable Disadvantages: Performance, inserts too small
"I decided to try some of the BPS Tungsten worm weights. They are on average .50 to .60 cheaper than the name brand.
I customized them. I decided to try these along with some of the Pro-Tec powder coat found at BPS. I drilled the inserts out of 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 size weights with a 1/16 drill bit. No problems there. Now they are ready to use a rubber peg it if desired. I took it another step and jabbed round toothpicks in both ends to plug the holes. Followed the directions on the protec accept multiple heat time x2 with lighter for tungsten. Swirled them in some junebug and some in watermelon. They coated up great and look almost exactly like the TT brand. Then, I stabbed the toothpicks through a foil pan to make the weights stand up like tombstones in the pan. Baked them for 20 min's at 350 per directions. The finish got even better and smoother.
I have yet to see these cut the line however fishing a stumpy reseviour I retie after every fish.
This is alot of trouble IMO and for .50 more the TT is less hassle but these can be made to work with a little effort. You might be saving .40 per weight after all is said and done.
Good Fishing!"

Never again !!!!!,August 31, 2009
By bayoubasserfrom Bayou Country
Disadvantages: hole size too small
"I purchased the 1/8 oz. and I couldn't use them with my Power Pro braided line because the hole in the weight was so small. Tried to drill them out and the insert came out , I thought this would work until my line started to fray. I'll go back to the Tru Tungsten weights, I haven't had any problems with them"

Good weights,August 7, 2009
By BBK1from E Iowa
"These weights are good to use if your a beginner or can't afford the top of the line. They work great but in my opinion they are no better then lead. Pay the extra money and get a quality tungsten weight."

fray the line,June 23, 2009
By exclr8
Advantages: none Disadvantages: Performance, fray line, value
"I purchased these on sales. I noticed the lime was continualy fraying and I had to retie often. I had a fish better than 6.5 lbs on with 20lbs pline. When I got it to the boat the fish kicked and the line broke at the weight. The inserts are to short and come out. I gave the rest of them to a fisherman I do not like. I would have given 0 stars if I could."

XPS weights,May 24, 2009
By FuzzyBunnyfrom AL
Disadvantages: Performance
"These are horrible. The inside is rough and eats through line like crazy. Don't waste your money.
I bought these in 3/8 oz and after fishing them a few minutes I realized my line was frayed close to the bait.
I finally figured out it was the weight doing this and wound up having to retie every five minutes. I was fishing them on 25lb berkley big game. Even after re-tying so much I broke off all but one of these on fish. When I managed to landed a fish my line would be badly frayed ragged for 12-18" above the bait. The last one went in the garbage.
Never again will I buy these, and my advise is to run away as fast as you can."

By LTGregfrom Zion, IL
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Value for money
"I use these weights exclusively. For the money, you can't go wrong. I especially like using worm weights with a Texas-rigged 7" Berkley Power worm (Motor Oil and Tequilla Sunrise are my favorites)."

Not the Best,May 6, 2009
By MichFishfrom Michigan
Advantages: Value for money Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance
"The only problem i have with these is the inconsistent hole size. It makes it tough to use standard weight pegs to secure them to your line. They are a little less expensive than some of the other brands but i'd rather just spend the extra money to get a consistent product."

Will cut your line,April 8, 2008
By Champ1911998from La.
"I purchase some XPS Tungsten weights a couple of weeks ago and went fish a tournament. My partner and I broke of atleast 12 times in one weekend using 30# FireLine. At first we thought that we had a bad batch of string. We have been using this line for about 10 years now and never had any problems. We looked at the weights and noticed that they have a square shoulder on the small end. We passed a piece of the same FireLine that we had been using, grabbed both end of the sting, grabbed the weight with they other hand, moved the string back and forth, and the string would get cut like a razor blade in just a few seconds every time we tried this. Last weekend we fished another tournament and used the Thru Tungsten Weights and had zero break offs. If you look at the Thru Tungsten they are rounded on both ends, not square. Hope this helps other anglers."

More Weight, Less Mass,December 18, 2007
By sitrucfrom Mohave County, Arizona
"I use these when I am fishing heavy weed cover, they are smaller and I have a lot less snags. I use the 3/4 ounces size with 20 lb monofilament and line abrasion or nicks has not been a problem but with the smaller sizes on 8 to 12 pound line I will always use a toothpick to peg it to the line and this has worked well for me, they cost a little more than lead but aren't toxic to the environment when lost and every little bit helps as we need to preserve the environment for future generations. Even hunters are required to use steel shot instead of lead when hunting waterfowl, its nice to see a company making products to preserve our fishing for the future. Good job, great product."

Good Tungsten Weight,November 20, 2007
By Baldeaglefrom Dallas, TX
"I use these often, but wish that they had colors or less sheen when new. I leave these out to weather a bit before I use them because they shine like a beacon right out of the bag. They're cheaper than mega-weights and tru-tungsten, but the color issue is an issue. I simply don't fish new ones in clear water. It's a good tungsten weight with quirks."

Don't depend on them if fishing a tournament.,October 21, 2007
By basserfrom Yuma, AZ
"This size, shape, and polish on these weight make it easy to slip your bait into tight cover; however, I too use 80# Stren Superbraid and these weights were wearing through my line as the day went on. I went to check my line and it just pulled apart. If your using them in a tournament re-tie often or risk losing that one fish you may regret."

not bad, could be better,August 7, 2007
By watrdog50from N.E. Ohio
"Have used these wts. for a couple years. Seem to be a good product, but wish they came in colors; at least black. As with all tung. sinkers, they shatter glass beads. Use plastic(about $1.25/100 pcs. at craft store) or Force Beads."

Tough on Flourocarbon,July 15, 2007
By mlhunterfrom Blues Springs, MO
"I have succesffully used BPS lead weights for years, however two days ago I tried their tungsten worm weights and line stops on my favorite lake for trying new stuff. Using the 3/8 weight on 17# Vanish Flourocorbon I caught two 18+" bass and both times the line about 24" above the hook was significantly abraded and I needed to retie. This was in an area I've fished many times and I never encountered that issue before. I won't use these for any tournament fishing."

Junk,June 25, 2007
By bassmaster
"They nick your line and cause you to break your line when setting the hook. Fish a tourny last week and lost 2 good keepers because my line got nicks in it from the weight. GO WITH TRU-TUNGSTEN. They are much better but cost a little more but well worth it!!!!!"

Tungsten Worm Weights,November 23, 2006
By Mick2030from Lake City, SC
"If you think that braid telegraphs contact with either wood, rock, fish, etc., try putting one of these tungsten weights on your line. It's like night and day. The tungsten weights are about all that I have in my tackle box now. They do cost a little bit more, but their application across the board far out weighs the cost. Just another product that could give you the edge that you need."

Lead is Dead.....,November 10, 2006
By HookedSolidfrom LI,NY
"All serious anglers know there is no substitute for Tungsten weights. BPS offers these at a very reasonable price so you can stock up. Tip: 3/4 oz T wgt,65# Braid,Creature bait on the biz end,MH 7'+rod. Hit your fave deeper weeds (not the edges, get into the thickest mess)in the summer and fish for 5 bites, not alot of action but could win your next TX."
