"I don't think there is a better gun cleaning product on the market. That includes Break Free and the others. This works just fine, and I have used it for many years. I was even issued a bottle when I got my first law enforcement-issued sidearm.
My father-in-law was a lifelong hunter, and he used Hoppe's #9 all the time. My wife knows when I am cleaning a gun by the delightful smell.
Every shooter should have a bottle."

"Hoppe's Powder Solvent is good stuff! It quickly and easily removes lead deposits and other fouling from the barrel. Be careful though, it seems to stain things quite easily."

"This stuff works great like it has for all of these years. There isn't a Gunsmith around that doesn't have this for cleaning guns. I've been using this for over 40 years as a Shooter and Gunsmith and have never found anything better for general cleaning of all types of firearms. When someone asks "Why does my gun malfunction" it is due to crud more often than not. HOPPE'S #9 is usually what is needed and the smell always awakens my best shooting and hunting memories. This also has many houshold uses as well, like removing those stickers and glue residue, from plastics and glass."

Using For Years
"This is an excellent solvent that has been used and proven by years of use. It works well removing lead, brass, and copper fouling in barrels of any type of firearm. It removes powder residue with ease and is an excellent product for many application. One word of caution, use as directed as it will lighten the blueing on metal and it will damage the finish on wood stocks if not used as directed."
