Best Decision Ever

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: Durability
"i used this for the firtst time today out on a small pond, it was about 55 out and our winter was freezing. beginning of march didnt expect to get much on my fly rod but just wanted to get outside.
tossed this out and after 10 min had a bluegill on, at the end of the day had alot of bluegill (i lost count at 15) nothing under 8 inches. and 3 crappie 2 of which were hefty! the jigs are extremely durable.
one tip add a (tiny) drop of superglue to where the threads meet the jig head will last alot longer. the body starts slipping on hte hook after a couple fish

Hook 'em up!

,

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, works when most other lures won't
Disadvantages: Durability
"These little jigs are killers on trout, white bass, bream, virtually anything! i was fishing trout with a flyrod next to a VERY experienced flyfisherman. he was astounded to see me pulling trout on nearly every cast. He asked to see the "fly" (a 100th oz olive version), and was even more astounded it was a commercial fly. He is a master fly-tier, I am not, and even he said it was an unbelievable deal. I gave him one and he proceeded to hook 'em up too. I've used the yellow. yellow and black, white, and olive colors. All worked. Landed a 5 lb largemouth with one. They're tough!
One hint, take some clear fingernail polish or other lacquer and coat the threads near the neck. They will hold up longer under the toothy pounding they will take.

Best kept, known secret, lure used!

"I am a novice fly fisher, so you must excuse me for calling this fly a lure!
As a 66 year old fisherman, this lure has caught more fish than all others! Bar none. And I have never used it with my fly rod! Yet! As in casting!
I first came upon this lure on Reelfoot lake in the early 90's! With a long fly rod or crappie rod! It busted crappie and bream! (blugil) I brought it back to the mid-west
and have used it on ponds, Carlyle Lake, rivers and creeks!
I have four large tackle boxs full of lures, bass, hard and soft, cat, crappie etc.
My youngest son and daughters have one tray of Pro Lite Jigs and visit the service station live bait cooler before each fishing trip. Thats their tackle box!
Having raised three boys and and a daughter, with their 9 children on this fishing system, we have caught unbelievable numbers of bream, cat, bass, sauger and sometimes unknown fish on this system.
We haven't used it on white bass, because we have a succesful pattern for them.
Your not going to win a bass tourney here!
But put this jig with a wax, under a bobber and have fun!

Good Carp Jig

,

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money, wicked sharp hooks!
"I bought a card of the 1/100 oz. size in olive. I didn’t have any specific idea for them but today I tried them out for carp at a local pond. They worked great, the hooks are really sharp and the bait is pretty durable as well. Also, the carp loved them as long as I got the jig right on their nose!! The only complaint I have about these is that I thought the marabou was a bit long; so… I just bit/pulled some of it off with my teeth. No problem! Though, I don’t know that you even need to trim it."

Perfect for beginners....

"i am a novice fly fisher who began fly fishing because it was something to do when it got to hot in the day and the bass were sluggish. I purchased the olive pattern with the red thread at 1/100 and went through the package in one day at a creek near my home. on my first cast i caught a half pound sun fish and from then on i caught about 50 sun fish throughout the day ranging from a pound and smaller. To top off the day i caught a 2 pound bass. The only reason i went through the package is because smaller sun fish would hit at the fly and tear the feathers off the tail and some of the fish would swallow the fly and i had to use pliers to remove. i never go on a fishing trip with out my fly rod and a package of these flies. This fly has caught more bass than any lure in my arsenal. I recomend the olive pattern with the red thread to any one looking to catch a bunch of fish and i have also had alot of luck with the black and yellow pattern."

poor look but still caught fish

"I recently bought a card of white prolite jigs and a card of black and yellow prolites in 1/80 and 1/100 oz. I was using them for trout on the end of a fly rod and I bought them in the flyfishing section of the website. When I recieved them the tails were extremely to long for the size of hook that was on them, so I had to spend about twenty minutes cutting off tails, then their were tag ends to the marabou that the flytyer decided to not trim. The jigs looked very unprofessional. When I tried them out though after "doctoring" them up myself, they caught fish That is why I am giving them a two and not a 1 rating."

Trout Jigs

,

"I have used this jig in the 100th oz. sz. for several years now and have found both in lakes and streams it to be very effective. I've caught both small and large fish using a # 5 wgt. fly rod and a 2 lb. tippet. It's especially deadly on fish lurking in or below faster riffles because I have found the larger fish are usually closer to the bottom than not.
Here in Missouri the jig is close to a fresh water shimp type insect which the trout feed on at various times.
It's just as effective in the westren states and the numerous natural
trout populations there.
Olive and white are the two colors that have been most effective for me.
I think the 100th oz. sz is also key."
