Good

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Quality, great action
"Great lure, works just about as well as live crickets. Just cast it as far as you can, twitch it on top a little, then slowly reel it in for a couple of seconds, then let it float on top for a second or two, then continue to do that. A lot of times they will hit it on the rise. It worked for me.
P.S. Be sure to have a pair of needle-nose pliers handy, especially for bluegills."

NOT a Gimmick

,
April 8, 2012

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well
Disadvantages: rebel lures are expensive $$$, hooks not real sharp
"I have been a long time fan of Rebel lures, especially the Crawfish and Pop-R. I always passed off this lure as a gimmick, one of those lures that appeal to people more than fish, grasshoppers don't go swimming through the water like a fish. Besides, at that speed all the details that make it actually look like a bug are hard to notice. Regardless, one of the yellow and black ones ended up in my tackle box, for reasons I can't explain. It was a slow day on a small farm pond, all I had caught was catfish. I was fishing a bobber and worm and I was reeling in and the fish kept hitting the line and bobber, so I switched to this and twitched it on top, second cast I had a 2 lb bass. Outfished my buddies 9 to 1 with this. Plus it is so much fun to see a bucket mouth suck in in his mouth or a bluegill get fully airborne hitting this, gets me pumped every time! Now my go to lure on the warm sunny days."

Black cricket!

"I love to use this lure in late summer when the grass hoppers and the crickets are out! Brook trout seem to love these! Just let go with the current and wait for a hungry brooky to gobble it up! They swim well, they dive to about two to three feet, pan fish seem to like them also! But can't beat this lure for late summer brook trout!"

It catches fish!

"I use this on the local ponds/small lakes around my house. It will snag bluegill, or any other sun fish, and it will get the smallmouths too. You have to throw it on really light tackle, so the bigger fish break the line if you don't handle them carefully, but make no mistake, once this thing hits the water and you retrieve it with a stop and go motion, any fish nearby will hit it viciously--even the occasional largemouth. My son, who has just started fishing, used this lure to outcatch me the other day, until I started using it too. All I have to say about this is that it catches fish! You will lose count after a while."

INCREDIBLE!!!

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, great hooks
"This lure is so much fun to fish and effective too. I was using the crickethopper in firetiger on a golf course pond in North Carolina. I would to toss it on top of sunfish beds and crank it in SUPER SLOWLY, just enough to have it waking on the surface with its signature wide wobble. Two or three slow cranks later, I would see a slab go airbourne with two small trebles in its mouth! Favorite panfish crankbait! It does wonders on bass too. Super sharp hooks make for a good hookset every time."

"Used the YELLOW GRASSHOPPER #96 this past fall in the High SIerra (CA) in lakes, streams, and float tubing. It out-performed everything...I mean everything...baits, lures, salmon eggs...you name it! Outfished everything I used 10 to 1.
Was on a trip with 10 guys. We all used various things the first few days. By the end of the week we all had this grasshopper on our lines and left everything else behind!"

Great Brown Trout Lure

October 20, 2010
By GPfisher
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
"I use this lure whenever I go fishing for Brown Trout. It's probably the best lure I've ever used. You can float it or use a slow retrieve as it drifts down stream. Expect a hit the second it hits the water or as you start your retrieve. Then just hold on."

Green Big Hopper is worth the money

"I have been using this lure to try and persuade the fish in the Miami-Dade canal system to bite. I have used it once but didn't catch any fish. Though a female blackbird was hovering above the water trying to snag this lure. If this thing can fool a blackbird, the fish are next. That said, I did use the black crickhopper to catch a crappie in a local lake. That thing only took two casts."

"Fished for 2 hours using scented worms and rooster tails, nothing. I was about to leave, looked in my tackle box and figured I'd just try this for the first time since buying it just to see how it works. After 3 casts, WHAMMO!
Ok, it's only a sunny, but it was better than pond grass!"
