Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: none
"these lure are way better then rebel by far. its the only lure that i found that if you want to reel fast it stays underwater if you want to reel slow it stays underwater as far as catching the fish awesome. if ur willing to throw in a few jerks of the rod while reeling you will be shocked that you will catch more fish. just a tip.."

Ahh, some cons to this bait.

,

Advantages: Performs well
Disadvantages: Durability, runs sideways after catching only a few fish
"First off, I have a grandfather owns a sporting goods store, so I'm able to pick these baits up for only $5 whenever I need a backup for pike fishing (my normal go-to bait is a REBEL TRACDOWN). We mainly fish wide streams & creeks in a 12" v-bottom boat, & these are one of my go-to baits for pike fishing. They're great, because you can control the depth. this is perfect for the spots we fish, because many of the shorelines that we comb are shallow (1 1/2-3 ft.) Now, the con, after catching a few pike (or getting hung up in snags & pulling it out since we use braid) the eye where you tie the bait on becomes crooked, & it is almost impossible to bend it back perfectly, so the bait just runs sideways & surfaces randomly throughout your retrieve, it becomes quite frusturating, & eventually I resort to buying/tying on a new one. Would be an amazing bait if only Rapala could fix this problem. I have this same problem happen with almost all Rapalas that I own. If you're considering this bait, just buy the REBEL TRACDOWN, only half the price, twice as erratic action, & catches more fish, without the problems of this bait."

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
"This is a very good panfish crankbait. I like to cast next to docks on lite spinning gear and let the crankbait sink next to pilings. I real it in with small jerks. Good colors are bright chartreuses, blues, or baby bass. Good fishin'"

Hard to beat...

,
April 6, 2011
By tahoefisher
from Lake Tahoe, CA
Advantages: Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
"I am very pleased with the quality of these lures. They hold up, and tend to catch very large rainbows (almost exclusively) often. I go for the rainbow and brown trout colors personally, but the tiger stripes catch some nice sized bass as well. Very nice, but you might want a light rod if you throw the small ones, getting it out there on windy days can be a challenge."

"I remember my uncle teaching me how to fish with this lure. To be honest I have not caught a ton of fish on it, but most of the ones I have were quality fish. Bass, Pickeral, even Walleye have fallen victim to the countdown. Again, not my go to lure, but still good!"

Great for Crappie!

,
January 28, 2011
By mdwstrnbassfshrmn

"This is my number 1 lure I pick up when I am going for big crappie. It is also good to use for bass. I like to use the smallest size available. The best feature is that the lure sinks and swims to the bottom when you pause it, which really attracts fish."

Great river bait for trout

,
January 26, 2011
By KennyG
Advantages: Performs well
Disadvantages: pricey
"This bait is my bait of choice on the White River in Arkansas. The suspension nature of the bait entices the trout, reaching close to the bottom, then the slow accent. Pricey, but worth it when the bite is on."

New lure for trout

Advantages: Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
Disadvantages: hangs up in fast shallow water
"My son introduced this lure to me for trout fishing in the Arkansas river in Colo. I always thought it was more for pan or bass fishing but I tried it and caught both rainbow and brown trout . Gets hung up quite a bit but that's the nature of fast stream fishing."

Target Depth Fishing

,
December 2, 2010
By Mickeyfin7
from Brantford Ontario Canada
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, depth control
"When sight fishing or spotting fish at a particular depth in the water column by using your electronics you want to present your bait at the right depth. This quite often requires a controlled approach. The "Countdown" fits this application perfectly. Just cast it out and count it down to the desired depth and it will stay at that depth during the retrieve. I call it "target depth fishing" . This lure has been around forever but as new lures swarm the market sometimes we forget the old standbys. The "Countdown" is a special lure that should never be forgotten. It's DY NO MITE!!"
