Make sure to check the gap when changing lures

,
May 15, 2012
By BAEinNC
from North Carolina
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design
Disadvantages: Durability, clip gap will increase.
"I used the XL size and was really impressed with how fast I could change lures. They had no ill effects on the action of spinners and crank baits.
The downside is the clip will loosen over time, you need to squeeze them together from time to time. I learned this after casting my favorite spinner and loosing it deep in the lake.
I have gone back to tying lures after this episode. So, if you choose to use these, take a look at the gap of the clip from time to time especially after changing lures from a heavy eyelet to a thin spinner bait wire."

A must have

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"These snaps allows you to switch baits with ease, but more importantly, they give your crankbait or swimbait much more action! A must have for those split rings when tying knots with small test flourocarbon as we all know it's nearly impossible to tie a good knot on split rings with light line. Get the biggest size available for bass fishing. They are the perfect size and plenty strong."

Stronger than it appears

,

Advantages: Performs well
Disadvantages: small is difficult to use
"This product is the strongest snap I have ever used. While fishing for Salmon on the Muskegon River I hooked a large(at least 20 #) and fought it for 30 min before he got off. The weakest link in my outfit was a #4 Mepps Spinner Treble hook which the fish straightened enough get off. I recommend the large for anything larger than Bass. The small are great for fly fishing IF YOUR EYESIGHT IS STILL GOOD and your fingers can tie knots in your tippet."

FAs Snaps

,
October 17, 2011
By jwtexan
Disadvantages: Difficult to use
"I read the reviews on line before I purchased the Fas Snaps. Because of my eyesite I like to use a snap swivel with lures to make it easy to change lures. These sounded like a good option to the swivels. The reviews mentioned how small they were so I got the large onesThey were tiny, so much so that I couldn't get them to work on a split ringon lures or the tie ring either. Too bad, it was a good idea."

Lure changing in a snap

,

By RONMAKI

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
Disadvantages: small eyes will not accomadate large lines
"For bass and striper fishing I would only recommend only the extra large size. An extra large fish might straighten a large and medium fas-snaps. I only use those sizes for trout and panfish."

Absolute Necessity for Jig Fishing

By Smokeeet

Advantages: Style/Design, Performs well, Quality
"Keeps the jigs fishing at the right angle, no constant re-adjusting. Need hemostats for threading. Makes changing jigs easy. Expensive, oh my yes. Be careful about getting the small size, only the lightest weight lines will fit."

"If you use a jig pole or a cork and jig on ultralite don't leave home without fas-snaps (medium)...without fas-snaps your tube jig does not hang hang horizontially (to me naturally)...otherwise your jig hangs at an angle with the head up...plus changing colors is much faster...when I first started using a jig pole (fly rod) in the late 70s, I had to cut a lot of didos with my jig...when I discovered fas-snaps it changed my whole approach, now there was very little movement on my part...mostly just hold the jig steady..."

"I agree with alot of people that Bass Pro Shop needs to make it clear that they are very small..... Smaller then the picture looks.... But they do work very well used them today..... Id say get the medium and the large.... It was very nice not having to tie the flys on.... I must have tryed like 15 diffrent flys today and it was very easy to change without cutting the line and retieing....."
