"I have been using these reels for years. With good maintenance, & proper cleaning after use. These reels will last you a life time.
We have had fish that have gone for hours & days, hooked up. This reel stood up to the test ever time.
A good tradesman never blames his tools.
This is a tool, I would recommend, always.

Best reel for big game fisherman

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, built tough
Disadvantages: none
"These reels are by far the best performing and longest lasting reels on the market today. I have four 30 vsw's two 50 vsw's and one 80 vsw and i have caught everything from Bull sharks to blue marlin these reels outperform the competition in every way. I use to have a lot of shimano tritons but i was tired of getting them repaired so i upgraded. So if your looking for a reel that could handle a blue marlin or dolphin or maybe a reel that you could rip a grouper out of a wreck these reels are your best bet."

great reel

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design
Disadvantages: scratches easily
"The international series reels are built very heavy and will handle any big game fish, I have a couple that are 10 years old and look and work like new. They are heavy and sometimes not ideal for medium size fish which you are holding your reel for extended periods of time, the gold finish requires careful handling as it scratches easily. But as far as a work horse that holds a lot of line with a great drag mechanism there is none better."

"I have used these reels on several occasions and I don't see the big deal. Penn makes great reels, but for my dollar, the Senators are much better."

worst reel ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

,
October 19, 2008
By fishyman
"i received a Penn 80VSW as a gift from a friend. first day we took it out we hooked a BIG sailfish. when the fish took off the drag was already at full. THE DRAG FAILED AND STEAM STARTED FLYING OFF THE REEL. the reel seized up in 30 seconds. by far this is the worst reel I've ever used. my friend offered to take it back and buy another reel. he got me an Avet T-RX. I'm very happy with my new reel."

"Great, tough reels! They last a real long time and most tackle shops can rebuild them when they get old. They last forever."

Penn International 50VSW

"The first day I owned this reel it proved to me that it is worth every cent of the price. I hooked into a 425 Lb blue Marlin and the reel really carried its weight. This is a great all around reel that is complimented with a Offshore Angler 80-130 Rod that was purchased as a combo. The reel speaks for itself, great choice."
