"Absolutley necessary when fishing thick brushy crappie haunts..You can stick you jig in the thickest of underwater jungles and get your jig back or pull a big ol crappie out of his comfort zone..I use the larger one for bass too. This was my secret for along time.."

Works like a charm, June 28, 2008
By KAGO from Chicago

"Dis-regard the diagram on the package. The picture in the ad is wrong. Use the hook to pierce a hole thru the flattened end where the dimple is. Push the hook thu far enough past the barb of the hook to get your line under it and pull it back so the guard is threaded on your line. Tie on the jig then slide the guard down the line over the eye and slip the other end over the barb of the hook so its in a straight line. I've done very well with these. The large size is effective on large buzz baits. Just keep in mind a straight line from the barb to the top of the hook. I also fish a single hook live nightcrawler rig with just enough weight to get past the bluegills. I use this with a Spirex 1000 spinning reel and 6lb fire line( 4lb is difficult for me to see) leave the reel open let them run about 6 feet lock it up set the hook. If after about 30 seconds no strike pull with the rod about 4 to 6ft retrive at a time. Just keep opening the bail. A small amount of air injected in the tail end of the nightcrawler helps too-Good Luck"
