BUYER BEWARE!

,

By Matri

Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance, Appearance, Durability
"These aren't the best option to go when being eco-friendly. They're very bulky for the weight, and the INSIDE of the sinker, where the line goes through is jagged and will fray your line easily. These also rust VERY quickly if you put them back in your tacklebox after use. Like I said, buyer beware!!!"

Steel egg sinkers

By mrrig1
from San Mateo, CA
Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: too big
"I was trying to be more Eco friendly, buy these weights are huge, almost twice the size of lead. Too much to cast, for a not great result.
The only pro i can see is the line moves through them easier than lead."

Do what they say they do

"It's hard to mess up a sinker, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that these do alright. It weighs what they say it does, slides nicely, and isn't too large. I like not having to worry about lead pollution or heavy metal poisoning. I use these to weight Musky bucktail spinners that I make by hand, and as weights for slip-bobber fishing."

Egg Sinkers (Steel)

,

Advantages: Ease of use, Value for money
Disadvantages: Performance
"I was trying to be responsible by using steel instead of the lead sinkers, but I found using the steel sinkers didn;t work well for me. I don't know if its the design of the sinker or just the material, but I found that using the steel instead of the lead sinkers I lost about 10 - 15 feet off my cast from the shore. I would have given this product a 5 if I didn't lose the distance.
I still would recommend these sinkers just for being environmentally responsible to our lakes."

Environmentally responsible choice

,

"Every angler today should be taking the necessary steps to ensure that tomorrow's anglers have the same (or better) opportunities than we had. We can all do this by being responsible and not put lead or other harmful heavy metals into the environment.
This weight makes it easy and affordable. I've been using them for a couple of years now and I love the way they handle.
I use them exactly like a lead egg weight, but I add a 5/32 brass bead between it and the swivel as the steel weight can be unforgiving on the softer brass material that most swivels are made of.
The resulting rig is a great performing slider setup that I do not have to feel bad about leaving on the bottom of the lake if I should happen upon a snag."

Ultra Steel egg sinkers

"These egg sinkers are highly recommended. The holes through these sinkers are so smooth, that I can use them right out of the package. For once, I don't have to smooth the holes out myself or worry about it knicking my line and breaking me off. Give 'em and try and see for yourself."
