Blakemore® Rod Floaters

Blakemore® Rod Floaters

Losing your expensive rigs can ruin a fishing trip. Rod Floater slips easily onto your rod and secures with hook 'n' loop straps. If your rod falls or is pulled into the water, it'll float. Standard: for casting, flipping and medium-to-heavy spinning rods. Small: for crappie, ultralight and kids' rods. 3 pack.

My rod would have drowned, October 5, 2006
By Jim43 from Oklahoma City, OK

"I fish farm ponds and while making a cast from the bank my cork handle slipped off in my hand while my rod combo flew about 15 feet into the pond. I had one of the Blakemore floaters on the combo and was able to use another rod and pull it in by snagging it with a lure.
This same thing happened to my sister at a lake but she just let go while casting. Her husband was happy that he had also equipped her combo with a Blakemore floater and it made this particular rod, stand up in the water like a flagpole.
Thank you Blakemore for saving lives with the rod lifevest.

Great Backup Plan, June 4, 2009
By RatherBeFishin03 from Kansas

Advantages: Ease of use

"I have only lost one rod and reel in the water but was lucky enough to hook it a few minutes later. This rod floater is something I hope I wont ever need but will be very glad I do. I only use 2 piece rods and the velcro used to secure these is great to keep the 2 pieces together while floating around the bed of my truck. Great product with no problems."

"As advertised, these work great. As an avid float tuber I have had two expensive combo's attempt to escape further fish fighting duties. Fortunately these escape attempts proved futile due to the rod floaters. There has been no problems with line slapping against them. Only gripe is after a few years they occasionally slide down the rod. A small price to pay for peace of mind"

There just in case., June 16, 2008
By kustmpaintr from Connecticut

"I have these on every one of my Johnny Morris combos. I get pretty bad forearm fatigue during a LONG day of fishing, sometimes my hand goes numb if I'm throwing heavy baits. Not as bad now that I've added the XPS weight balance kits to my combos, but none the less I've always been worried that I might lose grip, and throw the combo in the water. When I saw these it was relief. I outfitted all 10 spinning/baitcast combos. Now I don't have to worry about losing $300+ to fatigue or slippage. Great, inexpensive insurance. Just like other people say, on spinning rods the slack line sometimes catches, and occasionally on both spinning, and baitcasting the slack line will get caught, but it's minimal, and an easy fix. Well worth not losing a rod. I've never tested them, and hope I won't ever have to, but they are there just in case. I HIGHLY recommend them."

Cheap Insurance, February 24, 2008
By huntfishplay from Oklahoma

"I have yet to drop a pole in the water but I know if I do I won't lose 300$. I wish they were a little thinner so my slack line would touch it but that doesn't matter. I don't know why you wouldn't get insurance on your favorite rod and reel."

great for kayak fishing, February 15, 2008
By Anonymous from Hillsborough, NC

"don't like using rod leashes, but you risk losing gear. this is a great alternative. tested them in out in a pool, and they work as advertised. some line slap with a spinning reel, but that hasn't caused any real problem. also: use the larger (8") size for regular gear; the smaller ones are for ultralight rigs."

Great for Pontoons and Tubes, September 22, 2007
By Tacklejunky

"I lost a nice Okuma Alumina baitcaster on my float tube when I wasn't looking, and couldn't see in the water to dive for it. Didn't exactly see what area it fell off in either.

Now I have two high end Daiwa reels, and I protect them against loss in my float tube or on my pontoon with these rod floaters. Absolutely invaluable.

On a spinning reel, you might have to trim the float down some so your line won't slap, but if it does slap at least you can fix it with some cutting. The velcro on these floats looks cheesy, but is is actually very strong and you can tighten it down good on the foam.

Spend a few bucks now and save big bucks later when you drop your Daiwa Sol in the drink! =D

Saved Me Money, January 19, 2007
By Muskieking from Chicago,IL

"One day while I was fishing in a very small pond. Nothing happened until I saw my rod tip go down real fast then straight up bouncing off the stick I had rested it on, then as I went to grab it, it immediately flew into the water. Then I noticed that I put Blakemore Rod Floater on because I saw it floating. Amazing, so I picked the rod up out of the water and noticed there was a tug and I realized that the fish was still on!!!! So I reeled it in and it was a small five-pound catfish, but it saved me a rod and I hope it will in the future thats why I bought 5 more, for all my rods."

the blakemore has other advantages, December 24, 2006
By truckpwwwrrr from oklahoma city

"I LOVE THESE THINGS!!! however i have not had to recover any of my poles out of the water yet. But if you fish like i do with several poles and all set up with a different style of lure. i have 1 for jigging 1 for casting 1 for trolling and so on they make great lure or hook holders. better hook holders than some products that are made for that...
i hope i dont have to ever retreive any poles from the water but i am sure this can aid in that as well....

Blakemore Rod Saver, July 19, 2006
By helpolbayne from 'LA' Lower Alabama

"Its very simple - I wouldn't leave home without them. I have used the Blakemore Rod Floaters for years - recommended them to friends that have used them - and they are just great. I fish a lot on small streams and rivers from a canoe, and they have saved me countless dollars in rods and reels. Thank you Blakemore, I appreciate this great product."
