It's not for fine work, August 19, 2009
By JEMCG from Florida

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality

"This file is just that, a file. To bring back a hook that is turned badly or really dull it's fine. However I find the final sharpening process needs to be with a finer tool. It's well worth keeping around and I always have one in my larger tackle bags. But it's part of a system not the only tool needed for the process."

Good file, March 10, 2009
By 0204 from Idaho

"I have been using this file for the past few years. Make each pass 90 degrees to the previous pass and the hook will be needle sharp.

Keep it dry or the file will rust very quickly.

Good File, March 4, 2009
By FIGJAM from Middle TN

"I purchased this file and man this thing will sharpen them right up. It is almost like a small hasp but it will Sharpen up the hook in no time. I had a hook that had some rust on it and it tore that off and sharpened the hook right up. There are others that are better for touch ups but if you want to bring one back to life this is it."

No hook file, September 10, 2008
By mokan from missouri ozarks

"Bought this file while at BPS.
Very well made, good file. But, not any good for my tackle box.
Far better files, hook hones and sharpeners available.
May be suitable for larger catfish, trotline hooks. But, I doubt it.
Nothing wrong with it.
I gave mine to a friend.

A must have in your tackle box!, July 7, 2007
By Mike M.

"If you fish more one day a week you need to have a hook file! When you get a snag or run your hook on the botom on rock and logs and other stuff that can role the point of your hook, and even when you catch a lot of fish, that can dull your hook! So insted of changing your hook for a new one, just pull out your file and give the hook two stroke on either side and on the top of the point and thats all you need to get your hook point nice and sticky! It i so easy to do, you dont need to put a lot of pressure on the file, just brush the hook lightly! So easy to use! If Ican do it, anybody can! Great item to have in your tackle, for $6.99, it will save you money in the long run, because you can use you hooks longer! A must have! Give it a try you wont be disapointed!"
