Great hunting tool

"I purchased my Gerber saw about three years ago. Two members of my family and several friends now own one. The limb blade is extremely sharp and works well. I have cut 4 inch diameter limbs with it without a problem. The fine toothed bone blade cuts very well. A great piece of equipment. Caution! both blades are very sharp!"

Great Sport Saw!

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money
"I've used one of these saws for the past 3 years or so, and I couldn't be happier with it. I've used it for cutting small pieces of firewood, trimming low hanging branches around the yard, and carried it in my hunting pack for clearing away brush from blinds. I've recently purchased a replacement due to breaking the wood saw while clearing brush away from our duck blind...completely my fault though. I was showing off cutting a 4" tree that my buddy was sure would need the chainsaw. Would've been fine but I was trying to blaze through it and the air temp was around 10°F, so one sideways shift snapped the blade. One minor complaint would be the plasticy cheap-feeling handle. Never had the handle break though, so it's sturdy enough. Even so, I would recommend this saw to anyone who needs a compact saw capable of taking on anything."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money, light and small
Disadvantages: Quality, Durability
"i purchased the item and found myself a week later feild dresseing at +250 lbs. hog. The bone saw cut right thru the chest plate with ease. The blade is very sharp and did exactly what it needed to do. I found it a little tougher when trying to drop the head, but i did manage to do so. The saw in general could be concidered to be on the cheap side meaning it could have been built better, however at the end of the day it worked well and it's still in my feild dressing bag of tools."

Broken during normal use

Disadvantages: Quality, Durability
"Like others I purchased this saw due to cost figuring I would be okay for light duty use. I was wrong. After using the saw for about a month of trimming small tree branches and cutting pelvic bones of deer during field dressing the saw broke at the button lock. I was trimming a 1 inch brance when it broke and almost cut my finger. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT due to its poor manufacturing."

Save Your Money

Advantages: nice sheath
Disadvantages: Quality, Durability
"I had a Gerber saw just like this one that I bought several years ago at WM. I loved it and carried it with me everywhere. Unfortunately I lost it and so I didn't hesitate to order a new one from Bass Pro. The new one was nothing like my old one. Very light and flimsey. While setting up my climbing stand, I cut 3 limbs about 3/4 inch in dia. and the handle came completely apart and the blade fell out. Totally useless junk."

sharp saw but poor quality

,
June 1, 2010
By NConlybowhunter
from North Carolina
Disadvantages: Durability
"Gerber has made a lot of good products but this is NOT one of them. I must say that the saw is very very sharp and cuts well brand new. The main flaw is that it is made cheaply. I've purchased two of these saws, the first saw's locking button broke after a few uses. Purchased the second one and it had the same problem. Once you change out saws, the locking button never seems to work well and fails to lock tight again. After one season of use on cutting little branches, the locking button completely fails to lock and the saw becomes useless. If you're considering buying a hunting saw, DON'T BUY THIS ONE. There are similar saws such as the Red Head or Hunter's Specialty saw that is better and priced lower for around $14 bucks."

Disadvantages: bring bandaids
"I have had my Gerber saw for at least 5 years and used it every hunting season. The Wood blade is VERY sharp and will cut limbs very easily. The Bone saw is just as good too. It saws through pelvis and rib bones with no problems. My brother used my saw this hunting season and after using it 1 time he had to run out and buy him one. He said it was the best folding saw he has ever seen. He remarked about the sharp blade and how it cut a 4 inch branch like butter. I RECOMMEND this product to everyone!!!"

Share Blade, Poor Construction

,
September 14, 2009
By Sinkingrocket

Disadvantages: Durability, Quality
"The blades are good. I'll give it that. BUT, the locking spring mechanism is too weak for much real use. Mine became flimsy early on. Then the gear began to weaken and the end of the saw began spreading apart and allowed the saw to twist at the joint. Finally, the button popped out and the spring and another part became lost."

Great Saw

By Fredt
Advantages: Durability, Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money
"I have had one of these saws for years and it is a great saw. Being light weight with easily changed blades it is the perfect saw for the survival kit or backpack.
If I ever need a saw to cut firewood or to make an emergency shelter, this would be my choice.
It has come in handy for cutting firewood in the past and I am sure it will be in the future as well.

Useful saw

"I purchased this saw to quarter game in the field. Sometimes it is just easier to pack your meat out than try and drag them pack to the truck or camp. The saw fits great in my pouch or backpack. The second blade comes in handy when bow hunting to trim limbs out of the trees you normally wouldnt climb. Very useful product."

"I purchased this before the 08 season, let me tell you it is one of the most handy peices of equipment you can have in your pack. The wood blade cuts great. I used the other blade as a bone saw and it cuts through bone with little to no effort."

Nice compact saw

,

"I got this saw when I got the combo pack with the pruners. Pruners are worthless. (Read other review). I actually like the saw. It is small enough to throw in your hip pocket . Pretty light weight. Does a fair job of cutting limbs in shooting lanes and once up in stand. The blade is a little flexible (some claim flimsy) but it is a compact saw, not a logging saw. This saw has done what I have wanted from it for 3 years now. I also own the other Gerber saw (See Review), and like it also. Having either one of these saws has allowed me to pack my climber into areas where it is thick. I have gone up trees that I had to trim small limbs in order to get chains over them to climb. Without these saws, I probably would not of attempted it. I have never used the Bone saw, as I have no reason to, so can not give a fair review on the bone blade."

Handy saw!!

"This is the best little saw you can get. It packs nicely in my hunting pack and stays there all season. The wood saw is very sharp and a must for pruning around your stands. The bone saw takes a little more effort but works well when working up game. I also have one of these in my camping gear...very useful!!!"

Awesome Saw

"My cousin gave me one of these saws because he had 2 of them, i have never felt such a sharp saw blade. Also some might think since it's a folding blade it might not be as strong or stable but it locks and holds tight, By far the easiest thing I use to cut through bones and wood."

Work Tool

,

"This product was a "great piece of kit". While working on a moose, the fine blade was good for helping us when we quartered it. The wood blade was sharp and we cut a couple of boughs to help us prop the moose for butchering. Very handy to have attached to the pack considering we had to drag the quarters to the truck."
