great, but!!!, November 4, 2009
By BassPa

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money, sensitivity, light weight
Disadvantages: seats design, matching colors to a reel

"I’ve been using this rod at least once a week , great quality, performance , sensitivity and lots of action , the only problem I had was with the design/depth of the lower reel seat, my reel snapped off the rod twice while reeling two large bass. Compared to other split-grip I own, lower seat is not deep enough . Solve the problem by tightening the seat screw with a wrench . Hope Berkley will fix this problem in future. Only reason for not getting 5 stars."

Unmatched for its price range, August 25, 2009
By Cypher from Toronto, Canada

Advantages: Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"I have 3 of these rods and I must say, they are something else. It feels and performs almost like a carrot stix, at 1/4th the price. I've managed to pull out 5lb+ bass out of heavy cover with these rods without a problem. Mine are matched up with Shimano Curados and they work very well together. Give it a shot! You will not be disappointed."

Frog Rod, August 22, 2009
By slink16 from Southern, Vermont

Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"I've never had a frog rod so when the Shock Series came out I decided to give one a try. I purchased the 6'6" MH baitcast rod. Figured the fiberglass/graphite combo would be a perfect combo for the frog presentation. Paired with a superline this rod hauls them out of the slop, no problem! The fiberglass tip lets the fish eat it and the backbone drives the hooks home plus horses them out of the thick stuff. For sure my strike to land ratio is much better thanks to this rod. Two things that I don't like are that rod doesn't "load-up", making pinpoint casting difficult. This could be because I like using 1/4oz frogs, so maybe heavier baits are in order for better accuracy. Also, the holes in the handle can make your hands sore after extended use. A few wraps of tape can certainly fix that problem. Still, I give it Five-Stars."

Great Rod, July 25, 2009
By et84 from SW Missouri

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"I have the 6'6" medium action with a shimano citica 200e. I use braid sometimes, but mostly I use Yo-Zuri 12lb. hybrid. This rod is very sensitive, and strong. It can throw everything from 3/4 oz. jigs to weightless texas rigs or senkos with ease. It seems like BP can't keep any in stock, but whenever they have a 7' MH action I'm gonna jump all over it. Not to mention for $50 you can't find a nicer looking rod."

Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"I bought the 7' model of this rod specifically to throw soft body swimbaits. I usually take every new rod I buy to a local pond and fish a variety of baits to see how the rod performs. I was pleasantly surprised to find this rod handled every bait I threw quite well. It was sensitive enough to fish a Senko...handled t-rigged worms quite nicely also...felt everything I dragged the bait across. I threw spinnerbaits and felt every pulse of the blade on retrieve and every crankbait wobble. When I caught fish the rod had plenty of backbone to set the hook and move fish. When fishing moving baits the tip was soft enough to not tear the bait out during hook set. I use 20lb. braid and a Pflueger Asaro reel with this set up. I have been using it exclusively for smaller swimbait applications. Iit works great too. This is one heck of the rod for the money. Pure Fishing and Berkley have really produced a great product. Wait until you see what Pure Fishing and Abu Garcia are introducing this year it fishing rods. Abu Vendetta rods"

Tremendous Bargain, July 21, 2009
By BigBass759 from New Bedford Ma

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"Couple of months ago I purchased 3 of these rods in meduim heavy action. These rods are just as good as the more expensive rods of the same type. They have the split grip and no fore grip which make them light and very easy to handle. For $50 per rod you cannot go wrong. They also do mono and florocarbon quite easily. Nice soft tip to feel the soft biters with plenty of backbone when needed. Currently using 8/20 regular fireline on them. Wide variety of applications and techniques can be used with them. Highly recommended for any angler on a budget. Rods very underpriced. Great job with them."

Best value for the money, June 16, 2009
By UTAHBASSIN from Layton UT

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money

"I bought this rod to replace my Bass Pro Shops Tourney Special that snapped on me and I made the best decision I have ever made on selecting a rod. This rod has plenty of backbone to horse big bass out of grass and submerged cover yet the tip is so sensitive that I can feel even the lightest hit. What a great product."

great $50 rod, March 31, 2009

"Berkley has provided another oustanding product. I bought the 7' rod to flip and pitch grass. It has the muscle and backbone to hoist bass out of the thickest cover without issue."

great, simply great, and cheap to boot, March 15, 2009
By firehawk from southwestern oklahoma

"for the quality and and action you would think that this rod cost quite a bit more than just $60. I bought the 7 ft medium heavy it has the backbone you expect from a medium heavy but the fiberglass blend allows for a soft tip which absorbs some impact from the hookset which translates to better hookups. the liberness of the tip allows for long casts with little effort. I use this rod for deep diving crankbaits but I do believe it to be a great choice for many other types of lures, such as spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, buzzbaits, jigs, carolina rigs, and probably more I'm not thinking of at the moment. this rod due to the fiberglass/graphite blend has the qualities of both a medium action and medium heavy action built into the same rod. I highly recommend this rod."

"I'm a weekend angler. I have wanted a rod like this for some time now and could not find one in my budget. Thank god for Berkley. This is a amazing rod. The action is outstanding. If I did not know better I would have thought this rod was a $200 rod. The amp sound tip is a great feature. I think every bass fisherman should have this rod."
