"Reel is very smooth and rod is very high quality. Got this combo for Christmas last year and I am very satisfied with it. The reel is perfect, I can cast even the smallest lure with it and still not have a problem. I own two of the rods and they have held up through some very harsh fishing."

EASIEST BAITCASTER TO USE,August 13, 2009

"I have bought several cheap baitcasters ranging from 29 to 79 dollars. I have had trouble with them all backlashing. This is the first reel that i have owned that i can cast without having to worry about my line backlashing. Its no fun to spend time trying to pic out those crows nest inside a reel. I used this on my first trip this year and followed the directions and had no trouble. I plan on buying another RIck Clun combo. I have spent enough on reel and rod combos to buy this one a long time ago. For the money you can't beat it. I caught two nice bass on it this year on my first outing with this outfit and it performed great. If you want a baitcaster that is easy to use and just about backlash free, this reel is for you."

"my go to setup 6'6 worm for my finesse 7' for larger. reels are super smooth an rods light, well balanced an strong. bought my first combo 6'6 med act in 2004, cant count the # of fish i have landed. many 4-6lb one 8 one 10. broke the rod last year. wished i could say sorry product then i wouldn't have to blame my big feet. have tried all the new, still haven't found any i like better. besides i've never seen a picture of rick with any other setup in his hand nuff said! { there she blows the great black whale } gota go."

"This combo is the best I have ever used. The rick clunn reel is the smoothest reel I have ever used. The rod is also a great product. I have two pflueger supreme reels and when I switch back and forth while fishing, the supreme reels feel awful against the rick clunn signature reel. I really cant imagine another reel being any better than this."

"What a great combo set. It. only took me about an hour to start throwing without bird nesting on every cast. With over 1000 casts under my belt, a few tweeks to the reel and 5+ keepers, I can fish with it fulltime. The rod is very light in weight, well ballance, and very strong. Placing my order for one more, maybe two, if I get permission...LOL. I really recommend this combo set as it is a great value. I also suggest pairing it up with some 20 .lb Test - 8 .lb Diameter FireWire...

"Hats off to Rick Clunn and BPS for quality, comfort, and style. The simplicity and ease of casting is surprising. Smooth and almost effortless. Anyone who says they have problems with backlashes etc. needs to read their instructions again or practice a little more. I almost have to try to get a backlash. But yes it does happen to me on about one out of every 50 casts...and I just learned how to use one last year. The rods are phenomenal!!! Well thought out. These combos will be with me all season. I can't wait to get a couple more! As for durability...my brother and I were fishing a nice little bass factory here in Illinois out of my canoe and when he went to set the hook on a big fish we flipped the boat!!! all of our gear was floating around us and three rods were sinking to the bottom...did I mention that the water was 53 degrees! we managed to get out of the water...luckily it was 70 degree air temp....and we retrieved whatever gear we could...except for three of our four rods...one of which was my brand new combo! So one combo took a dunk and the other one sat at the bottom of the lake....Next day I was able to jig the sunken rods out. Mine still had my KVD sexy shad spinnerbait attached and within an hour that same rod was doing battle with a nice three pound largemouth! Never got even a hiccup! Obviously it will need a little tlc and some grease/oil but nonetheless worth every penny!!! Get a couple for yourself now!! I love mine!"
