Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Value for money
"Always fished stradics before this. Very solid simple design- designed for saltwater by shimano. Love the water proof drag. Caught several 40+ inch snook on 5000 series and has held up like a tank. Smooth drag and very sturdy feeling reel. Shimano just makes great stuff."

"It seems every time I intend to purchase a Penn reel, I leave with a Shimano. After comparing several popular reels, I bought the Spheros 4000FB and loaded it with 20lb braid and there isn't much it won't reel in. From inshore snappers to tarpon, this reel is ready. Fit and finish is great and the build quality is superior.
This is a great reel to complement my Shimano 6500 Baitrunner for larger fish. But, the 6500 has gotten signicantly less use since I purchased the Spheros."

"Most of my reels are Penn, but this Shimano has a high speed retrieve and is lightweight but not cheap feeling. I have two of them. Line wraps on spool smoother than a Penn 5500. Both of my reels are the 8000 series. One has 20lb spiderwire ultra cast braid, and the other one I spooled with Momoi 16lb diamond mono."
