Disadvantages: Performance, Quality, customer service
"I have a HDS7 which worked for 15 minutes before it went blank. I sent it back for repair and have been waiting 10 weeks for it. I know 4 other charter captains who also bought this and had the exact same thing happen! Spend hours on the phone fighting with Lowrance. Bad customer service! They actually said they released the HDS line too soon before the bugs were worked out because they were trying to keep up with Humminbird 3D. Buyer beware."

"I recently purchased the HDS7. However, 1st time out on the water it rained. When I got home and went to take the unit off the boat found the unit had water in it. Not very good for a $1200 unit. E-mail Lowerance about the problem and still waiting for respose (It's been 6 days). Customer service in, my opinion, at Lowrance is lacking. The unit performed well and the larger screen is really nice. Thankfully, Bass Pro Shop is exchanging the unit."
