Bomber® Tim Horton Switchback Shad Custom Crankbaits

A Bass Pro Shops® Exclusive! ''Modifying the bait gives it more of a rolling action instead of a thumping feel. It comes into the strike zone more quietly and allows fish to react to it. It doesn't alarm them as much.'' Tim Horton 9-Time Bassmaster Classic® Qualifier It’s easy to see why this crank helped Tim win the 2007 Champion’s Choice Elite event—it’s action is so smooth! That day the fish were actively feeding on rock pile and Tim needed a subtle approach, not the reaction strike, and this bait proved to be the ticket. To further improve the design we incorporated a rattle you can turn on and off by locking the ball bearings in a chamber by simply rotating the crank until they’re secure. It’s very easy to do on the fly and adds a lot of versatility to your approach. The finish of these baits are also special, featuring colors based off of Tim Hughes’ original designs. Put all this together and you have super-refined improvements to an already awesome design, and as Tim has shown, this bait is a closer so you’d better stock up now! BTSM6 2-1/2", 1/2 oz., dives 4'-8', hook size #4. BTSD6 2-1/2", 1/2 oz., dives 8'-14', hook size #4. BTSM7 3", 3/4 oz., dives 8'-14', hook size #2. BTSD7 3", 3/4 oz., dives 14'-18', hook size #2.

switchback, October 11, 2009
By Fishinfool999 from GA

"Have no issues in engaging or disengaging the rattle on this bait. The bad part is the rattle does NOT stay engaged for more than a cast or two. It becomes neccessary to re-engage rattle too frequently for my taste. Aside from that this is a nice lure. But they need more work on getting the rattle to stay engaged."

Great Idea, but rattle hard to use, July 20, 2009
By Catrookie from La Vergne, TN

Advantages: Style/Design
Disadvantages: Difficult to use, rattle does not stay engaged.

"Before I hit the water with this lure for the first time, I practiced turning on and off the rattle until it became second nature. Whenever I casted this lure with the rattle engaged, the rattle locked during the cast. It happens in every cast and I cannot keep the rattle engaged. I did catch some fish with the rattle off, but I wouldn't buy this lure again, unless someone can show me how to keep the rattle engaged."

Wormnut is catching them on a Crankbait!, June 30, 2009
By WormNut from Houston, TX

Advantages: Performs well, Quality
Disadvantages: takes practice to turn rattle off and on.

"I bought several of these and haven't had any trouble turning the rattle on or off. It took a little practice and I had to read the instructions twice but now its a snap. I've been using the BTS6D with the rattle off and just the other day caught two really nice keepers, one three pounds and another about 4 pounds and lost another good one because I though I was hung up in deep grass (stupid me) and when I realized it was a good fish (it came up and jumped) it was too late. I just wish I would have started throwing this crankbait sooner in the day. The baits run true and have a tight wiggle, the hooks are good and the foxy shad finish is awesome. This bait also floats up really slowly so it just stops when you pause it or work it with a pull and reel retreve. I'd quit worring about the rattle and just fish it. The Wormnut is catching fish on a CRANKBAIT! Wow!"

Trouble getting it to run silent..., June 8, 2009
By G1enn from TN

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design
Disadvantages: Performance

"A long cast tended to activate the rattle. I bought two and had the same issue with both. Worked great if you want it to rattle. Nice looking lure and it does catch fish."

product needs work, March 2, 2009
By firehawk from southwestern oklahoma

"I didn't have any problems with the rattle seemed to switch easy enough. I was fishing the BTSM7 in the foxy shad color prefishing for a weekend tournament after an hour or so the bait returned missing half its bill. the thinner lip reduced the strength of the lip so that simply contacting bottom caused it to snap. I also have the BTSM6 and BTSD6 models I will find out whether I simply had a defective product or if they all have this problem soon. At this point in time I don't believe I'll by any more of this product. $8.00 for a couple hours of fishing is not a good deal by any means. I believe I'll stick to the original fat free shads as the lips have more reinforcement."

Defective product, January 13, 2009
By SnoopDog from Alabama

"The idea of this product is fantastic. I purchaed 6 of them but can only get one of them to work properly. It seems as though the ball is locked up or they left the ball out of the bait. One works great! and is a fine looking crankbait. if I purchase more of these it will be at the store where I can check to make sure they work before buying them."

rattle needs work, January 2, 2009
By OhioBasser from Toledo, OH

"The bait has a nice action, and the rattle idea is great, but I can't get the rattle to work. I've followed the instructions on the package and in the other reviews. I can't get the rattle to get out of the Locked position. Maybe I've got a defective one, but I can't get it to work. Other than the rattle it's a nice crankbait."

"This is a great new lure that allows you to turn the rattle on and off at will. This takes some practice to master though. Here's how you do it. First of all reguardless of whether you want the lure to rattle or be silent hold it belly up with the bill to the left. Then give the lure a tap until you here the rattle is free. Now think of the bill as a minute hand on a clock and rotate the bait clockwise to lock and counter clockwise to unlock. (If you hold the bill to the right then reverse to lock or unlock.) That's it! After a few tries you will be able to do it on the water without even thinking about it."
