Awesome Reel

"I bought this as a combo with the Carbonlite Rod and I am in love with this reel. It casts extremely far and smooth and once you have it dialed in the thing will rarely flare up and birdnest on you. Great reel for the money and I would definitely buy 10 more of these reels. I love the weight and how simple it is as well."

Not as bad as everyone thinks

"This curado does not compare to the old curado because shimano has completely redesigned their lineup. This curado is now much less expensive and when something costs less it is bound to perform worse. If you like the old curado then go for the chronarch. If you are looking to make an upgrade from a caenan or citica then the 200g is worth the money and you will be happy with the performance just like I am."

"My wife purchased this reel for me two years ago. Within the last month I have caught a 9lb, and a 8lb bass on this reel. The reel throws a mile, and is smooth as silk in the retrieve. I plan on buying a second reel soon."

Money well spent!

"I purchased my Curado this winter and didn't expect to use it until spring, but due to the extremely mild Illinois winter I've been able to catch Bass during every month of the winter season on open water (first time ever!).
Before using the Curado my primary reel was a Johnny Morris Carbon lite with a Pinnacle Matrix XLT as a secondary reel (both great reels).
Since I started using the Curado in December my other casting reels have sat idly by gathering dust. I have yet to backlash (birdnest) the Curado which I can cast farther with much lighter lures then with my other bait-casters. Paired with a med action Bass Pro Tourney graphite 6'6" rod and 10lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon line I can cast this combo all day long without getting tired.
I also own a Shimano Sahara and Sedona spinning reels which have been trouble free and dependable. I've fished for 50 years and tried every brand of reel on the market, there are lots of quality brands making great reels but IMO Shimano makes the best quality reels for the money.

why???

Disadvantages: Performance, Durability
"I have 4 of the 200E series and could not be happier. When Shimano changed the way it was made and slapped a new name/letter on it they messed up. My tournament partner and I have about 12 of the old 200Es between us and we tried out the new one. They totally jacked up a perfectly good reel. 2nd cast the sideplate @ame off also happened on the 3rd and 4th. Took it back picked up every one in the place and all had a grinding noise. I will be on ebay hunting the E series. If it is not broke don't try and fix it..."

"i don't know what this other guy is talking about, i dont think he does either. (This reel was released in early winter) its a lot like the caenan and even looks like it. Not saying that Is a bad thing because i liked my caenan better than my old curado e casts far and smooth, i think that this is definitely better than the revo sx over all a great reel and worth every penny"

Don't Believe All the Hype

,

Disadvantages: Durability, company customer service
"I got this reel last April (E Series) and it didn't even last one year. Something went bad in the handle and started turning in the wrong direction!
Sent it in to shimano, paid 45 dollars to have it fixed, got it back and it was WORSE!
Was really disappointed with the durability in this product.
For half the price you might suffer more backlashes and less distance, but at least it wasnt $160 dollars if it goes bad in a years time!"

"i got this reel just before christmas. i realized it wasn't really snowing up here in canada so i decided to give it a shot before it got too cold. after hours of casting i finally got a bite! hauling in this 4 lb bass was no problem whatsoever it even casts great! after reeling her in i realized, the curado is the "go to" reel. its a must get!"

shimano 200g6 and rod

Advantages: Performs well, Quality
"I want to compliment the sales guys at the Cincinnati store especially Scott. I informed Scott that I was going to buy either a Shimano Curado or a Pfleuger Patriarch baitcaster but needed help in selecting a good rod. He took the time to show me several rods around $100 {my limit} that would be a good matchup along with explanations.
I then had another sales guy give me further details on the pros and cons of each reel. I selected the Shimano with the Basspro Extreme rod. I could not be happier with the choice. Both feel great in my hand and work as smooth as silk.
I have done this before with purchases. Thanks again for taking the time to help me make a good decison."
