"Reel feels solid and well constructed. My problem was in spooling 17lb mono...consistently backlashed no matter the brake settings. Backlashed for the pro guide too! Moved down to 12lb mono and it shined, very smooth and excellent casting distance. Just don't upsize the line and you'll be happy."

"I bought this reel last summer when my bionic screwed up. i matched with the 6'6" MH Mojo Bass rod (which by the way is a great rod) This reel throws lures soo far. And i cant believe how good this feels in the hand. I have 30# power pro braid spooled on it. If I were you I would set it on the 9 setting then set the knobon the handle side a little loose. With it set like this it makes it so hard for it to backlash. But that rarely happens with this reel. Do yourself a favor and buy this reel."

"I own two of these reels. One is used for crankbaits and the other is for plastics. I fish at least 10 days out of the month so these units get a workout.
With regular owner maintenance such as washing and proper bearing oiling, these units when matched with either a M of MH rod cast flawlously.
A great product at the right price point."

"At first I didn't know how to use it because it was my first baitcaster but when you get the hang of it, it's great. It is low profile and light weight but its one piece metal frame makes it durable and sturdy. It reels in super fast and it easy to learn how to use. I have no complaints."

1st fish with Pro Qualifier

"I am just getting back into fishing. A friend told me about the BPS Pro Qualifier so I checked it out. The reel looked and felt good so I told my father-in-law about it, who mainly uses the Shimano Chronarch. After he checked it out we both ended up with one. It casts far, is very smooth and easy to use. On our first fishing trip the reel performed great. My first fish weighed 7lb 4oz.. I will be getting another Pro Qualifier."

"This is my first baitcaster. I bought the floor model which was the only one left in stock. It worked fine but I noticed some odd bends in the case. Took it back and asked if the bend was a feature or a problem. They accepted it back, and a $150 Bowning Midas was on sale for the same price $97 so I bought it. It was nice for worms but when I tried the resistance of a topwater jitterbug I felt a rhythmic vibration that obscured the feel of the shaking jitterbug. Very annoying. So I took it back and exchanged it for another BPS pro-qualifier, but this time new-in-box. A nice young lad set it up for me, showed me how to oil it and answered all my questions. I put 12 lb. Berkley trilene XL on it and I'm in love. I guess I'd advise caution around floor models that some customer may have dropped, but new-in-box? Definitely! And, I guess BPS fishing staff are great everywhere, but the Saint Charles/Saint Louis store is my store, and I can't praise the men and women fishing staff enough for the time and advice they've given me. I'm 60 and just a beginner fisherman, so to find these good folks is a real treat"

"My wife let me pick my own birthday present this year, and let me tell you I couldn't have made a better pick than a pro qualifier. I've had it out four times now, over a hundred casts per trip and I'm still waiting for my first bird nest. I'm amazed at the distance, the smoothness and quietness. This was built by genuine craftsmen who KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING! Other reels are just that. This is a machined tool. It fits me like my skin, so light and natural I could throw this all day, everyday. This is my fourth baitcaster, I have 2 abu garcia's and a shimano curado. I'm gonna miss 'em. My pro qualifier simply outclasses them, out performs them, is lighter and is a lot easier to use. Thanks to bass pro shops, I got a taste of the sweet life. Best $100 I ever spent."
