Works Great!!!,
December 22, 2009
Advantages: will last a long time.
Disadvantages: sometimes gets a little hard to reel in.
"I've used this combo for fishing onshore and offshore. It cast far and the line it comes with is strong. I usually go fishing off piers and docks and it is accurate at where you want it to cast. I would give this as a gift to someone who loves the outdoors."

Good Reel, Great Rod!!!,
December 15, 2009
Advantages: good sensitive rod & light weight, smooth long casting reel
"I was a bit skeptical about this combo, but i had confidence in the Daiwa brand of products via past purchases. Boy am i happy i bought this combo!!! First off the rod is great; you can feel the fish even if it's a nibble which would make for a good hook set when the time is right. and the rod though a bit on the small side for my kinda fishin' (surf & Jetty) is very smooth on the retrieve & surprisingly holds a fair amount of line in the 15-20lb range. The gear system seems to hold up to a good fight despite only having one bearing. i haven't yet got a 25 pounder to really test this reel but when i do i'll let you guys know"

My Big Catch,
November 17, 2009
"I used this Saturday and was very pleased with its performance. When the fish were biting real soft and subtle I was able to feel even the slightest nibbles. Low and behold when I did hook into a 46lb black drum it took a load of punishment and didnt give in to all. Great backbone for the cost."

Bang for your Buck,
September 30, 2009
"I ordered two about 2 months ago. They come spooled with twenty pound test. When they came, I literally pulled them from the box and took them to the river. I caught 11 catfish(3-10lb) that day. I cant promise they'll bring the luck I had but the rod and reel have handled a wide variety of specimen from crabs to eels. I've used these rods about 20 times since and have yet to have any issues. In summary this product is well designed for the frugal recreational angler."

Great lower end rod/reel combo!,

"I bought this setup without doing any research on it. I needed a rod/reel quickly and ended up with this one, but now this is my main setup when I'm fishing in saltwater! It's easy to cast, has great action, and can take a beating! I'd recommend it to anyone especially for this price!"

Good enough most of the time,
July 27, 2009
Advantages: price
Disadvantages: reel could be better
"Although the setup comes at a good price for an 8 foot rig, it could be better. The rod is tough enough to withstand wear and tear, but the enamel cracks in some places near the guides. It still works fine, though. The reel casts decent and has a good gear ratio, but the frame will torque and flex some with 15+ pound catfish when turning the handle. The drag gets the job done. Overall a good combo for the price."
