"I have not actually had to fire the Taser but I have bought one and the procedure for getting the thing unlocked is harder than passing the background check for a firearm. (They come locked.) They are very innouxious but scary if you are on the bad end of it. The product comes with a DVD that tells about its development and instructions about getting it unlocked. In other words, once you buy it, it is not ready to rock & roll. You must carefully answer all their (TASER) questions, much like the 4473 for a firearm but their data base is broader and more sensitive that ATF's. (They have wonderful 1-800 customer support) Once unlocked, it is an extremely powerful weapon and many say they would rather "Tase" someone than kill them so the Taser is better than a gun (for some, not for me). I had rather be shot with a gun than tased but you can usually live to tell about the tasing. Be sure your nose is clean before you buy it and you MUST give your Social Security number to unlock it. They offer a free cartridge if used in self defense. It has dual disabling features. One is the cartridge that fires up to 15 feet to totally disable an assailant and two, there is an high voltage, amperage electrical current from two contacts in the nose of the Taser that will make you wish you were dead. Five pitiful states do not allow them but Praise God in Heaven for Texas. lcjones"
