"I bought this in the spring to use on a Canadian fishing trip this summer. It got through airline security checks without a hitch. I took an extra battery for the week but didn't need it, worked great every day on just the original battery. Allowed us to find every reef where the walleye were quickly and also the depths for trolling. We were about to leave one spot on the last day and I spotted a big fish on the screen. My brother dropped his jig back in and caught the biggest walleye of the trip. I also use it on my little fishing boat at home and love it!"

Good for Kayak Install,August 22, 2009

""Installed" this unit on my Hobie Outback. At first I was going to opt for the Humminbird 170 and mount the transducer inside of my hull like I have seen recommended elsewhere. The method where you epoxy the transducer to the hull and the sonar is passed through the plastic. This method had me a little worried, because I did not want to make a mistake and be stuck with an improperly mounted transducer, and have to buy a new one. At first I suctioned the transducer to the underside of the front of my kayak, but it kept falling off (I mounted it where it would have been mounted if I had done an inside the hull mount). I also kept getting false/random depth measurements. I finally figured out that wave action was causing the transducer to come out of the water ever so slightly. I moved transducer to the underside of the back of the kayak, about a foot and a half in front of the rudder. I thought water turbulence might cause interference, but didn't. The rear of my kayak sits lower in the water and the transducer is always submerged. I am glad I didn't try to do a inside the hull mount, as a I would now be purchasing a replacement transducer. It has performed well in that location. Used it today, measured depths from 3'-115'. Found fish at all depths. I got the kayak going as fast as I could and it still performed fine at my max speed. I am not going to use the plastic carrying rig they include as space is at a premium. Have used it for about 8 hours and the charger says the battery still has a full charge. Has a backlight for night/low light fishing."

"Great little fish finder. I like the battery and charge options on it. The suction cup transducer is great, i have not had any problems with it coming off or anything in that nature. The only thing i would change about this product is the screen quality and maybe upgrade to color screen."
