Barnett Crossbow Crank Cocking Devices

Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well, Quality
Disadvantages: costly
"The Barnett Crossbow Cranking device worked flawlessly! Being a handicap hunter, this was the answer to being able to go archery hunting. I did have n issue installing the cam as the bolts did not align property, however with a call to Barnett, they sent me the new parts UPS and it resolved the issue. I used the crossbow hunting this last weekend and it worked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this product. However it is an extra hundred dollars, I feel Barnett should include the crank with the purchase of the crossbow package."

Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: getting used to using
"I have had a chance to use other cranks that failed to hold during cranking but this crank meets and exceeds all others and I do not have to look any further for a purchase. OH, it was made for my Barnett Commander Crossbow and they go together like a glove"

Not what was expected

,

Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance, Quality, Durability
"I purchased this cocking device for my Ghost 400 after calling Barnett and being told that it would work on the Ghost. Directions for installation was set for the Quad 400, Wildcat C5 and Panzer V crossbows. Installation instructions gave different directions for the different Bow types. I had to call Barnett again to clarify routing of the string over the string anchors. On the Ghost the string runs under the anchor. Once installed the spool release was dificult if not inpossible to operate if the installation screws were tight. I lubricated the shaft with WD40 and with lithium grease and it did not help. I called Barnett and they send me a new spool release that works but not much better. The hooks that attach to the string caused my sttring serving to seperate but not brake. I used a little super glue on the serving and have had no more problems. I have started working my upper body arm, back and shoulder muscles. I will go back to the rope cocking deviice eventually but for not this works but not as expected. I forgot to mention in this case you do not get what you pay for."

needs improvement

Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: Quality, Durability, relese switch is very poor quality, if release switch breaks in the fully cocked posit
"The cocking device is very easy to use with very little strength to set your crossbow. You do not even need to put your foot in the stirup to cock the bow. Day one the release switch broke. My BIGGEST complaint about the device is the inventors needed to make a better release swich preferably something that should have been screwed in with threads would have been great. The release is severely over priced. There is no way near close to $100.00 worth of material to make the thing. $30.00 maybe, but not what the asking price is. I wish the inventors would have done more with quality on the switch, no way this thing was field tested and really put to the test."

POOR FOR THE MONEY

By KSWILDCAT

Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: value for money
"THE INSTALL DIRECTIONS/DIAGRAMS WERE POOR AT BEST. THE RELEASE LEVER IS DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. AND, THIS IS WAY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET. IT DOES EASE THE TENSION OF DRAW, BUT IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE THAT BARNETT HAS ON IT."

"first, let me say that I'm a disabled hunter and have not been able to archery hunt for a long time. After getting a Barnett Buck Cammander with the cocking system I can now hunt again. the system works great. My arm's are veary weak but with this system I have no problem using my crossbow. This is a great way to get back hunting if you have a hard time pulling a bow . I can hunt again thanks to Barnett and this system. Take care"

Advantages: works easier than ropes, i have bad back and this is less strain
Disadvantages: Quality, switch hard to operate
"It works good and is a lot easier to use than the ropes and pullies. The down side was the farward reverse switch was very hard to operate. I had to use a screw driver to put in and out of gear at first. I took it apart several times and oiled it. Which helped a little. The last time I used grease and I can now switch it with out a screw driver."

A Definite Need

"I bought this for my dad's Quad 400 because he had rotator cuff surgery and couldn't pull the bow back himself. After having to pull his back numerous times while sighting it in (I was exhausted) and bought the crank that night for him. Turned a 150 lbs. torque into 17 lbs. and he can use it with ease. I'll probably buy one for myself eventually, but for now I can pull mine back fine. Not sure if they really need to price it so high, but oh well it works."

worth the money

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money
Disadvantages: poor assembly instructions.
"I purchased the bow, without the cocker.. bad move.
I could not cock the bow but one time, after that it was impossible. So a week later I bought the cocker.
It made a world of difference, I can now shoot my bow as many times as i want. Only 16# of pull now with the crank. Don't buy the Quad 400 without it, it is a must, trust me.

allows me to use this crossbow easily

,
July 19, 2010
By smittyinoklahoma

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well
Disadvantages: too expensive
"I am 60 years old and my lower back will not allow me to stand, bend over, and draw this C5 crossbow by hand.( I can do it from the sitting position using my legs to push the frame away) This cranking device allows me to do it easily. Easy to install if you follow the directions exactly. Storage of the string and claw has been much improved. Expensive, but necessary for me."

Best Purchase I Ever Made

,
April 26, 2010

"Bought a Barrett Quad 400 Cross Bow then injured my back. With it taking 150lbs of draw weight to cock the bow I figured it would be quite a while before I ever used it again. I then bought this cocking device and now that draw weight is handled with about 10lbs of weight on a crank handle.
Ease of mounting and use were unbeleavable. Without this item my crossbow would be collecting dust now I practice with it whenever I like."

Crossbow cocking device

By Lacajun55

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well
Disadvantages: the cost is way too high for this product.
"I have had no problem with this device so far.The only thing I don't like is after your bow is cocked you have the hooks and sting dangling below your stock. There's really no place to keep it out of the way.Its don't interfere with shooting the bow but might make noise are draw attention to the deer when aiming at one out of a tree stand."

BEWARE!!!

"Bought this and the first one was missing a screw to hold it together. It flew apart after 4 cranks. I returned it to the manufacturer and they replaced it with a new one. This unit failed at nearly full draw!!! The string broke on this unit. Something is seriously wrong with this design. I was using it on a Barnett Revolution AVI."
