"It is comfortable to hold and lightweight. I use it for up to 10 hours at a time and I never get tired of holding it.
After about 10 trips or so the line guide will stop moving back and forth, causing the line to become unbalanced on the spool and only spool up on one side. It makes a clicking noise and refused to move.
I dont think I would purchase another but if you happen to get lucky and get a good one then its a great reel for the money.
You get what you pay for with this one. If you want something that lasts years be prepared to spend a little more cash."

"I love my Revo's but decided to try this out on an extra rod I had. Used it several times....it screams when it casts, so I'd adjust it and it would be fine for 15 minutes, then it screams again. Caught several 2-3lb bass on it and feels like the reel is going to break. Wouldn't trust it on a bigger fish.
Rather spend more money and get a Revo S or maybe try the new Orra SX"

"This is a great reel for the money. I have been using Shimano Curado, and Ciltica since the mid 90's. I fish tournaments often and needed a reel to flip big worms in grass mats but did not want to spend nearly $200 for a reel that I will only use once or twice a year. I spent about 1 hr in the back yard trying different weight lures from floating worms to 3/4 oz jigs and it performed well. I was very surprised with the performance of this reel. I have not tried the brake system yet since I very seldom use the brake system on any of my reels so I cant comment on the brake system. The drag system did not seem bad and the gears should be fine since it is a Abu. I am now looking upgrade my Curados and citicas to the Revos this winter."

"I purchased this reel two weeks ago. I knew when I bought it was not a top line product but needed a reel before my Shimano arrived in the mail. It's junk. After only two trips the gears have a bad spot making slow reeling annoying and impossible to work slowly. It cast fine and is lightweight. I personally feel it is two small in my hand, but thats a personal preference. The drag doesnt seem very responsive and I find myself manually adjusting when fighting a fish. Don't buy this reel if you fish much, it should only be a secondary or backup reel at best. Get a Shimano and do yourself a favor."

"this is my second black max reel. this is the most absolutley worst reel i have ever owned. this reel grinds when i cast. this bail does not move when i reel and the drag gave out and i got the worst backlash i have ever had in my life.i have used baitcasters my whole life. and i lost the fish . and i know how to fish. im not some one who doesnot know how to fish and just saying it. i always go in to tournaments and take first. i now have the ABU GARCIA REVO STX-HS and is the best reel i have ever onwed. it casts a mile and reels in an ything like it a tank. built great and has great brakes . and i fish 5 times a week so about 175 times a year"
