"Just got this reel in to replace a Revo S as a frog reel, I will say that so far this reel with 7 ft MH St Croix rod, 65 lb Power Pro, and a Spro frog with throw far and smoother than any other reel I own. A flick of the wrist will throw it 30 yards, I believe it will throw all the way to the bottom of the spool if I wanted to. Only took about 3 casts to get tuned in the way I wanted it, also fits well in your hand. Will definately be buying more in the near future."

"After 10+ years of using spinning reels I made the swith to a baitcaster. I wanted a quality one and my friends encouraged me to try any of the Revo reels. I bought the Revo SX and after reading the manual my first cast was the dreaded "bird's nest". I fixed my line, cast again and got about 5 feet out of it. I called my friend and asked what to check for. He told me to check and make sure the brake was set all the way to the max. Going to back to the manual...it specified to have the brake at the min. while adjusting the spool and I never switched it over. After that I was amazed. After about an hour of practicing I was casting over 50' into the wind. I have become very comfortable with the Revo SX and have only had a few minor bird's nest while flipping. Mainly because I let the spool get too loose and didn't adjust properly. Very easy to figure out and very smooth."

"I own two of these reels and I have to say that they are excellent! I bought the first in the Fall of 2008 and the second this past Christmas of 2008 as well. I upgraded from the older version of the Rick Clunn and what a difference. The first reel that I bought makes a little bit of a noise when I am casting, but not like it is falling apart, just a bit of a "whine" to it. The second one makes the same noise but not nearly as loud as the first. I promise you that the noise is not anything wrong in the function of the reel, just the spool spinning while throwing your lures with some force behind it.
They are very smooth reels, period. I even suggested to my father in law about getting one and he enjoys his just as well as I do! These reels handle well under constant use. I do confirm also as the previous reviews, they are a bit touchy to get used to, but once you get them dialed in, you barely have to adjust them from light to heavy lures. They are a pleasure to use! I promise you will like it if you purchase one!"

"With much debate, I move away from my allegiance to Shimano baitcasters which I have held for decades when I decided to purchase the Revo SX to take peacock bass fishing in Brazil. We expected low water and top water fishing, but the water was high and we flipped jigs in the flooded, dense jungle. It was like commando fishing. Trees, vines, logs and heavy foliage everywhere. I don't know how folks fished these jungle waters before the advent of braided line. After 4 days of fishing hard for around 8 hours a day, I roughly estimate I made 4500 flips, most of which were 20 feet or less in distance, it was a very quick pace and without a bite, I would make two or three flips per minute. I landed around 250 fish and at least 20 of them were over 10 pounds. My big fish was 14 pounds. (My 13 year old son caught the big fish of the trip at 16 pounds - but he was fishing a Shimano Stradic 3000 spinner - another fine reel). It was a harsh environment for the equipment, really hot, or raining really hard, trees and vines falling in the boat, a lot of fish and a lot of debris. The reel performed without fail. The ability to control the spool speed with great finesse for a precise flip is outstanding. The drag was more than ample for these very strong fish, especially the Aca (speckled) variety of peacock bass. If I don't step up to the Revo Winch, I will be buying another one of the SX's. (If you get a chance - go to the Amazon, you won't regret it)."

"got my first revo. put it on a carrot stix. 12lb line it will cast a spinnerbait a mile. it is one of the if not THE smoothest, best feeling reel i have ever used. 11 bearings high speed. awsome. definatley a must have, at least 1. if its not in the price range i would recommend a daiwa exelor i own 2 and they are killer. for $79. cast into the wind and dont think twice."
